Starter Button not working
« on: November 13, 2012, 09:08:07 AM »
I have a 74 750 that has been starting up and running perfectly fine but, due to weather getting really cold, I garaged it for past week and a half.  I kept battery plugged in to trickler charger. Beautiful weather came back around this weekend and when I went to start it I got zero response when hitting the starter button. No clicking or anything. All the lights come on with turn of the key and I am able to kick start it with no problems.  Before I attempt to rip apart and mess with the entire right side control, is there anything I should test first?
Also, the control has the kill switch on top, with the Lights On/Off switch below that, and finally the starter button.  I don’t know if the PO messed with it but the lights switch acts the same way as the kill switch.  The light switch must always be on the ON position or it wont start the bike or it will kill the bike if put on OFF. Any suggestions on this little mystery?
Thanks

opening and cleaning all the contacts in the control is not difficult.
use a impact driver so you dont strip the JIS screws under the control.
