CB 100 Tinker Toy

Picked this thing up for 50 bux.

Engine is seized and I have poured MM oil and PB Blaster in the cylinder.......no luck.

Stripped the kick starter pedal trying to free the engine.

Guess it's tear down time. Not to worried bout this thing cause I'm going to build this thing as a minimalistic brat/bobber bike.

Acetone + ATF poured in the cyl got my K7 unstuck. Let it set a couple days.

Well the acetone and atf didn't do a thing for it........................

So tear down has begun..................

The engine is out and power washed.

This will be, hopefully a bike my wife can learn on.

Then she will be able to ride the 350 or the 750....her choice, of course.

Engine rebuilt, still not started yet.

New/used wheels, frame stripped and repainted, took 3 cans of paint stripper.

Got a used tank, was rusted, so gave it the vinegar treatment, now pin holes.

Still need a seat, sprockets, and chain. Front headlight assembly.

It is in roller status.

I am not very good at story telling, so no wonder my thread died........boring....!!!!!!!

Tinker toys can be fun.    I just finished a CT90 for a customer, took more than 6 months as I was handed an almost totally disassembled bike. Keep at it ,, you'll have a fun around town buzz box when done...Larry

I'm a little worried about the cam chain timing, the book I have isn't much help.

I think I got it though. Gotta get a battery and sort out the wiring harness, which has been chopped up by the PO.

Going to wallie's or advance to see if they have a 6v battery for this thing today.

I think you should replace the cam chain,for $50+ it'll save an engine;cheap insurance.  ;)

Wish I did that when it was apart. Hopefully it'll hold. I want to hear it run.

I've never torn into an engine b4, to where I took the cylinder and had it bored and honed.

Replaced the piston and rings.

Well, I reread the chapter on installing the gear and chain, and went to check the gap in the rockers, and they were tight as heck.
I read further and looked at the picture and it showed the advancer tab at the top, and mine was at the bottom.

Rotated, and now was able to check gap.......needs adjusting.

Guess I'll work on that tomorrow.

Trying to work on this wire harness the PO chopped the heck out of.

Have thought about buying a new one, but I'm cheap as he!!, and want to try to fix this one.

Plus, I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

I do have a couple old harnesses from other bikes laying around. Was thinking of cutting and splicing, and cutting and splicing.

I am in a debating session with myself on this. Buying a new one seems to be winning.

Old harness in decent shape can be adapted quite easily.  Just take it out of wrapping for tracing and shorts.

The harness itself seems usable, they just cut all the ends off at the front., guess they couldn't figure they could pull the wire out of the headlight without cutting them.

Got the harness routed on the bike, still no battery.

Had to order a carb, cause I searched every where's for that inner spring for the throttle and can't find it.

Was recommended by another as a good carb.

I think that spring may have disintegrated in the vinegar soak, cause this is what happened to the bowl clip.

DID is good for the chain.  If the sprockets aren't cupped or elongated chain only  replacement will suffice.
