CB550 Racing Exhaust
« on: July 11, 2006, 05:39:28 AM »
I'm building a CB550 race bike and my plan for an exhaust has taken a bit of turn.  I planned to swap the exhaust I had on my street bike for another set I had but it's not going to work, so now I need to come up with a plan for a system.
I'm planning on building a 4-1 system and I need to find a header.  Anyone have any idea of which other 4-1 sysems would fit the head.  I was think maybe header from a newer CB550 with DOHC  or a CB650 if it would fit.  Since I'm building this the only real think that has to fit is the header.
Thanks a bunch.

I've got a MAC 4 into 1 header for the 550 that I'm looking to sell.  It's a little rough, but serviceable and a good choice for a racer.  it brings the pipe down directly below the engine and still allows for access to the oil filter housing.

I'll get you a pic if you're interested.  It's in Toronto, Canada.

A cb650 pipe will fit, but I don't think there were many choices other than a MAC

I hear mac is the only thing you can buy today. I have a Hooker header with long primary pipes which were separate and slipped into a collector. I also have a Yosh racing exhaust which is different from their street headers because it uses ultra short primary pipes. They barely get past the oil filter before joining up and then run directly down the center before kicking out the side. This pipe was all about top end power for roadracing. Sorry, I won't part with either of them,.. just teasin ya.
