Con rod bolt what's the diff?
« on: December 13, 2012, 01:24:47 AM »
Ok fellas,
They Original part number for the motor I'm building is discontinued. A member made mention that I could use the f2 con rod bolt and nut combo. Here's the catch there is two part numbers

13213-333-003 at  $10.21

And

13213-Kv0-000 at $3.53

I'd like to believe I need the cheaper of the two but why two diff part numbers for one year engine. Is there a diff in the metal, thread, etc?

Thanks in advance

I just bought new con rods and nuts for my 78 750F this past weekend. I got them from mother Honda. From the parts book, i gave them the number 13213-333-003 where they told me those were discontinued. They gave me the new part number which was 13213-Kv0-000.

In comparing the two types of bolts, my original F bolts had an additional "thread" type at the shank whereas the new bolts did not have the additional threads but were a solid shank with four ridges on the shanks.

I'm curious what others will say. I've already installed my bolts but haven't put the cases back together so if these are inferior bolts I will see about getting the old number...and not really trust honda anymore...
