K6 single carb, SOHC

I'm new here just finishing this bike. Really happy with the single carb. This bike is so much fun to ride and much faster than bigger bikes I've ridden. I made the single carb manifold myself, thinking of offering duplicates for sale if anyone is interested.
Have some bikes, need one more.

I call it: CR 750 Nelsonore. 836 kit, battery under the seat, oil tank under the gas tank, dyna ignition, mono shock, runs great.
Have some bikes, need one more.

Here is my manifold. I know lots of people will say the runners are unequal, pulses are off, etc. All I know is this bike runs smooth, very fast, is fun to ride and so much easier to work on.
Have some bikes, need one more.

Ready for powder coat. Went with 80% gloss black.

Looks fantastic. How would you compare the performance of the single carb vs 4 stock?

Hello, the bike was not running right when I bought it. I rebuilt the carbs and got it to run pretty well for about 100 miles then it went to 3,4,3 cylinders at random. I took the carbs back off took them all apart and found nothing wrong. It ran well for another 100 miles or so then, same thing. I took the carbs off again and decided to never mess with them again. I started this whole project because I hated those carbs so much. To answer your question, I own a ZX1400 (some say the fastest production bike) this little Honda feels as fast for the the first 50 yards. I think a stock 750 may have more top speed but 0 - 90 I bet I'll be way ahead. I purposely kept the carb small (37mm) because I wanted the acceleration, stop light to stop light performance and that is what I have. Put a bigger carb on and you'll get more top end.

I made 10 extra manifolds, I will sell them if anyone would like to buy one, let me know.

With that single carb, I would imagine it would pull like a tractor until the revs get up, then it will get asthmatic at higher revs.  The only thing you will have to keep an eye on is the outer 2 cylinders could run lean at higher revs due to the fuel sheeting as it rounds the bend in the manifold.  I have seen a few single carb setups on these bikes and I have never been overly impressed, mind you they do idle smooth.  If I was to do a similar setup, I personally would go a twin carb setup, with one feeding 1&2 and the other feeding 3&4.

Nice build AstroWing! I like it. I bet it will run just fine like you said for your purpose. After all cars with 8 cylinders can run on 1 carb, and if your want more top end put a bigger MM carb on it!

Great looking bike.  You did get aggressive with the sawzall and frame mods, but she's a beaut. 

The manifold looks decent, too.  I wonder how much high end you lose with the single carb set up vs. a twin set up like Cycle X's.

I would need a dyno run to determine the top end power, then I would have a number on a piece of paper to talk about. I have a ZX14 and love the feel when I open it up. This bike does almost the same for me.

Just got my seat from the upholstery shop. What do you guys think?

It would be interesting to see the dyno results, I would expect a shift in the torque band to a lot lower in the rev range and less peak HP.  But by how much, I'm not certain.  Like I said before keep an eye on the outer 2 cylinders, they will run leaner then the inner 2 at high revs.  If they run lean enough it could cause damage to your engine.

Thanks for the kind words about my Honda project.

I made extra manifolds, thinking of offering it as a ready to go kit. Throttle, throttle cable, manifold, clamps, rubber couplings and air filter. I am very happy with the jetting for my 836, 4 into 1. Next I'll install one on a near stock 750 and get the jetting right so I can predict what jetting will work on a more stock bike. I should have a price and kits on the shelf in 30 to 60 days.

Here is a couple shots of what happened after I rode around town a little: my clutch started slipping and began to tear the knobs off my trials tires

Look close at this Dunlop trials tire. Guess I'll have to go to a more conventional tire.

I also had extra oil line adapter plates made to get rid of those stock oil lines. Look  under the clutch picture. Will get them back from the anodizer in a couple of weeks.

Really cool.  I admire the originality, nice job.  How did they fasten the upholstery to the seat?  I want to get a very similar style/look.

Thanks, I have been running the bike with the carb/manifold in mockup.... Ugly blue silicone hose connectors and cheap hose clamps. I finally found some hose and clamps that I like but had to have the clamps chromed. The chrome shop said they will have everything late next week. I'll send pictures then, if I'm happy with how it looks. Sorry for the delay.

I collect 1974 Honda Elsinores here is a picture of one of them. Hope it helps explain why I have dirt bike tires and other features on this cafe racer.
