I actually found those #s in the archive; but top seal couldn't verify the figment, only that they were their #'s. so I sent the piston in. They didn't even charge me for return shipping. Those guys are really top notch. The rings they gave me were those #'s. i just wanted to be sure.

I'm supposed to be finishing the next episode of seat pan wrapping 101. I however have ellected to sit around the pool drinking instead. Actually I starting to get a little tipsy, so it will have to wait tomorrow. I would probably just end up glueing my fingers to the seat.

I'm also having trouble locating an ostrich; apparently it is not an indigenous species to Florida. But alligator is.............

I'm back with part two of Seat Wrapping 101. I couldn't find an ostrich and alligators are dangerous on both ends and precarious in the middle. Since this is a 101 class I'm going to use vinyl which is more user friendly.

Materials needed:
Vinyl
Contact cement
Spray adhesive (77)
Heat gun

Do not attempt without a heat gun. You're just gonna work harder for an inferior product. A hairdryer will most likely work. You just want to warm up the vinyl slightly to make it more flexible. NOT HOT; it will tear.

Spray a small amount of spray adhesive on the padding to tack the vinyl in place.
While its getting tacky WARM the vynil. Once again not hot.

Flip it over and apply the contact cement on the bottom of the pan 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch. You won't need much.
Apply cement to the vinyl where it's going to match up.

Notice I'm only doing the flat sides. Don't try and do the entire seat at once. You'll just get cement all over your fingers and make a mess.

Give it about 10 minutes to set up and turn your attention to the front.
Don't forget to warm up the vinyl.
Start at the center and work your way to the edge. The vinyl is going to have a few folds under the pan but don't worry we have ways to deal with it later.
If all goes well you will have something that looks like this...,.

Apply cement to the final backing and let it set up.
Warm up th vinyl ( critical here to make the turn) and continue.
You should end up with something like this.

Remember the folds I mentioned earlier? No worries just cut them out like so. This is very critical when working with leather, ostrich, or velociraptor.

Do you use single stage urethane on the fender and tank like you did with the frame? Can you give me a quick summary of the process you use ... number of coats, sanding between coats, coats of clear... What kind of paint do you like to use?

Never try and use single stage on tanks and seats. You can do it but once again you're working harder for an inferior result. When you f&?! it up; and you will if your a beginner, you have to wait 12 hours and repaint the entire thing.
I only use single stage on frames. It cuts out orange peal but most importantly have you ever tried to buff a frame? Me neither and I don't wanna try. I use restoration shop because they have more than 100 colors to choose from and for the $ it can't be beat. Don't listen to the paint snobs; sure there are better paints but they cost a lot more.
Nothing really special about the paint prep. I use kustom shop 2k high build primer. Do not use the duplicolor crap; etching or others, urethane will not adhere to it. The clear I use is also from kustom shop.

I'm only 5' 4". Comfy seats eat up to much inseam. That's also why I make most seats as narrow as the frame rails.
