I just picked this up last month, '77 CB750K, hopefully I'll have some extra cash to get it on the road soon. It runs strong and has new oil, plugs, and points as well as cleaned carbs. Should just need new tires, a headlight and front turn signals. After that I plan on doing a mild cafe/restoration as I go. So far I've just been cleaning it up, took off all of the touring stuff, and fixed the seized front caliper.

Haha, thanks! Don't worry, a sleeker seat will come soon after. I just want to get it on the road first before I start any purely cosmetic upgrades.

Yup.  These are wayyyyy cool Newest member in the family with original blue CA plate.

The 77/78 supersports are actually the fastest, have the best handling and superior braking of the entire SOHC4 CB750 series.
Pretty comfortable seat, too.

 They have really weak forks for the braking available, I remember we had one as a road test bike, it would wipe the rear of fork leg and the front stayed dirty because they would bend backwards so far.
I still liked the F2 best of all of the CB750's though

It ran like crap when I rode it home last week, lol.  But it was missing one push/pull throttle cable.  Electrical was a bit mess, no taillight and running light. Right hand control was Mickey mouse repair job. 

But all is fixed now, just waiting to find time for a test ride.  Bike starts right up and strong throttle response.  It has pods, not sure if I'm converting back to stick air box.

Those 550F mufflers are gettongvhard to find in good shape. If it runs good, leave the pods. Needs grips and side covers?

There's a good size rust hole at the tip of the exhaust that is not visible unless you kneel down to see, so I'm not worried sour that.  I do have the whole air box setup in my parts piles that I was going to put on my other 550....so, not sure and not decided yet.  I could probably find good grips around my shop . This parts piles have served me well. 

I do however need a right side cover though. The PO bought a left side and thought that it will fit on the right side as they look almost identical...you got one laying around?

I've got one of Frankenstuffs sidecovers for a CB550F that came in a "grab bag" of misc covers. I'll dig it out and send a pict, I don't know left from right on the 550's, so you might have to help me identify it!

Mine fits the 550F (per fbstuff) but it too is for the right side, and the bottom peg was miscast and is missing ("factory second"), otherwise nice cover.

...don't tell anyone my Frankenbike has a 77/78k motor.  I don't even know which year it is cuz someone filed off the engine number.

My 550k is a 78k motor but has a 77 frame.

old exhaust wrap looked like isht with the addition of the 18" ss muffler.

It is one of those one's off Ebay that comes from Thailand.  I was actually quite surprised at the quality and comfort, plus in the short term I wanted something that would work with the original seat pan.  It is a temp solution for now until I get a loop and make a seat pan this winter.
