Damper / stabalizer bars for 550's
« on: January 28, 2013, 01:16:20 AM »
Has anyone  installed a damper or stabalizer bar on there older 550 honda? Does  it help? How is the installation ...where do you mount it? If you could can you  toss  a picture on. I see they  run around 150$.  Is it worth  it? Thanks for any advice.

used ones on feebay for $20  ;)
it mounts on the lower triple, and then to a frame brace mounted in front of the head.
plenty of pictures of this mod on the site.  just search for steering dampener...

here's a pretty good thread..

I have and have had many CB 550's, all in original condition. I ride what I would call normally, that means I like to give it a little throttle in a safe way on the winding roads. I do not race - and full throttle on highways does not give me any pleasure.

I have not felt any need for a steering damper, the bike rides just smoothly. Let's here what other people think, those who are "late" for an appointment and those more like me ;D
