Will these work on my 1975 CB550?
« on: February 14, 2013, 03:37:11 PM »
First of all I don't know the difference between the 550K, or F or T or whatever else is out there. I have a 1975 CB550 and I wanted to know if these would fit. The fork seals themselves are fine, so I didn't want to buy a complete kit. And if anyone can help me identify what model my bike is I would appreciate it. (I know I'm a typical noob)  ;D

Yes, they will fit but you have to use the supplied shims. You should have 35mm forks.

Going by the side covers, it looks like you have a 550"K" model, but the header looks like an "F" model. Post your VIN number. A shot of the RH side of the bike, specifically around the kicker/foot pegs, would also help ID your bike.

You will have to remove the stock fork ears to use those.  When you do you will probably find a lot of rust on the upper fork tube, not a problem other than appearance.  Welcome, the manual can be downloaded from this forum if you do not have one...Larry

CB550K, but with an F exhaust as Scott mentioned. Also, tank and front fender is K.  500T is a twin cylinder.

Hell yes! Thank you guys for all the info. I already have all of the old stuf taken off the front end. I got some aftermarket slimmer for ears with the shims to clean it up a bit. When i get a chance I will post some more pics to help identify the bike. I ordered those seals after cross referencing the part numbers and they all check out. Thank you again for the help. Joining this forum was probably the best think I could have done!!!!  ;D

I prefer the stock seats or a cool cafe one if you are going that way. I have one of each!

Well I would love to make a nice cafe bike but I'm kinda penny pinchin right now, but I think this will turn out pretty good for a first try and who knows, maybe she'll be around for a few years and might just turn into something. :)
