Hey Matt, I'd sure like to roll with you guys this year but things just aren't looking good. I will keep an eye on this post and if I can possibly squeak in for a short putt I'll try to do it. No word from Sean eh?? Either way.... Have fun & be safe.
Fred, try to make it, even if it's only for a few miles. It will do your soul good to get out on the road, and the only major cost will be for the gas if you pack a lunch. ;)

Dave, have you decided a route to Fernley on 6-8? Are you going through Lodi?

My plan at this time is to receive GZ sometime on Sunday 6/2 from Kyle and/or Matt, then depart Napa, CA at 6am on Sunday 6/8 to meet up with Greg in Fernley, NV between 10-11am so that he has time to make some distance east that same day.  In order to stay on schedule, I'm planning to take I-80 all the way there, so no loop through Lodi.  On the way back, I'm planning to go north on Hwy 89 from Truckee, then east on Hwy 49 from Sierraville through Sierra City, Downieville, and Nevada City.  Once in the valley, I'll decide whether I'm up for more backroads via Hwy 20 from Grass Valley through Yuba City and Williams to Clear Lake, then south on Hwy 53 and Hwy 29 into the Napa Valley, or if I'll just grab more slab to beat feet home.

Kyle, Matt, Greg, (others?) please let me know if I'm missing anything or forgetting anyone.

That works for me, Dave. One thing, 6/8 is a Saturday. That still work for you?

I just PMd geminimotors (Mike) with a link to the current discussion; hopefully he can join in either 6-2 or 6-8, or both dates...

He's out this year.
He's got a second job in NV on weekends. I advised him of the Fernley drop point but he didn't get back to me - I think he's on overload

The weather is looking great for this weekend.  I'm excited!

Where along the route near San Luis Obispo can I meet up with the group?   I'm bringing along another rider so I'll be coming the most direct route West from my house to meet up.  I'm flexible but just need a fixed point along the route to catch you all.

Do you plan to take 101 to Hwy 1 (Cabrillo Hwy) or another route.  If SLO does not work we can meet at Morro Bay also.  Looking at a map Los Osos Valley road cuts off 101 to get you to the coast short of SLO.

Pat, we've been deferring to Mooshie for route guidance, and her last post suggested we remain flexible until Saturday morning due to fire situation. Maybe PMing your cell # to myself and Mooshie would be the best solution and we can call or text you before we leave Carpenteria once we've settled on a route.

I do not know what Sal's plans are but my plan would be either 101 >Hwy1 or 101/154>Foxen> 101> Hwy 1
SO either way Pat we go through SLO or Morro Bay.  Easy enough to pick an exit and meet up for a quick off and on.  We will be stopping in Santa Maria off of Betteravia for a quick gas stop but that may be back tracking for you all.

Pat, I take it you are thinking of taking 58? The most direct route West would be 223 to Old River to 166 to Santa Maria. You would only have to back-track a couple of miles to the proposed meeting point on Betteravia road.

That sounds like a great idea. I just pulled the bike out of storage and don't really trust it yet for another thousand mile plus journey like the past few years. Getting GZ3 to Napa won't be an issue and if I get it together in time I can tag along for some of the next leg.  You can meet me at my shop -

If it's easier to have me meet y'all somewhere else, let me know. If you can make it to Pacifica, I'll definitely buy you guys lunch (or whatever meal is appropriate).
So much to do, so little time.

Better nate than lever, I should chime in, if not clock in. Thanks yall for thinking of me and poking and pm-ing me. Regrettably I have to sit this one out. Working full time, and taking on the vehicle fleet management for the Burningman event is running me ragged. Ironically, I'll be an hour or so north of Fernley this weekend and 6/14-17.
I'd love to grab lunch or a beverage with anyone passing through, and Fortress Oakland is always available with tools, parking, lift table, m/c trailer, etc. As an aside, I've got friends in Fernley, and theres a friendly lil moto shop there- Motorcycle Mania? Good folks. Matt knows.
And another aside- 'Grumpy no like hot. It make me Grumpy' He no like cold either. Last year was so much fun, I forgot to get off at Monterey. My new 650 cam in the 550 chasing Grumpy's new CycleX motor down Big Sur and back to Gilroy. So cold, so late- he practically insisted I ride on with his cold weather secret weapon: extra large priority mail fed ex envelopes made of tyvec and strategically placed in his jacket!

I think the plan for GZ to arrive in Napa, CA on Sunday 6/2 is set, although I'm not sure at this point who for sure is bringing it or at what time.  My schedule is flexible that day, so pretty much anytime works for me, but let's try to firm it up so that I can make other plans around it.  We also need to pick a specific spot to meet.

The plan for GZ to travel from Napa, CA to Fernley, NV on Saturday 6/8 is already firmed up, departing Napa at 6am for arrival in Fernley between 10-11am.  So far I'm riding solo, but of course would love some company, so get in touch with me if you want to join the trip, with the understanding that the departure day/time is set, in order to be able to make it happen in one day as planned.  Greg, we should also pick a spot to meet.

Geminimotors: I was in Fernley last July on my way to Utah and saw the shop Motorcycle Mania.  I couldn't resist turning around and taking this picture.  Here is my bike outside (they were not open).  Small world.

Kyle: I will be at the lovely Motel 6 on N. Fremont St. I figured I would just call you on your cell when we get there. I do not know where Sal is staying he has friends in Monterey.  Thought you could decide what would be the easiest for you.  I also need to speak with Sal and see what time he wants to leave on Sunday as that would dictate the time.  Is there a time that works best for you? I know you need to get GZ-3 to Napa.  Give me an idea and perhaps we will get lucky and Sal will weigh in before we leave tomorrow.
