v3.0 T-Shirts and Patches Design and Manufacture Competition
« on: February 26, 2013, 03:11:47 pm »
That says it all. Boys, it's time. You want this to happen then you need to P A R T I C I P A T E. Guess I'll need to keep repeating myself until this is all happening.

We've had patches the last 2 years and T-Shirts just year 1. The patches were great both years and I will say the patches improved in quality in year 2. The T-Shirts in year one were pretty nice but they were iron ons from CafePress.com and could have been better quality.

We need your input. We need designs submitted and someone hopefully from here that can do screen printing. Get yer #$%* in gear to get you some gear.  ;D Post em up boys! Who can do the printing? MasterChief750 did a great job on patches last year! PM'd him about this year.

I can not do the printing. I do know someone who could print the T's but I really dont want to be the in between person. I hope we have a screen printer here. I vote for one color print (cheaper). something bold and consistant with the era of bikes we ride. If we do one color we should be able to get shirts and have them mailed to all individuals interested. I would be willing to get a price for  the printing and postage if that is what we want to do.

Now lets see some art !

Printing: I may have just the right person for this...
Any ideas of how many? ...100? ...200? ...500?

And having done a few t-shirts before... I'll be submitting some art for it :)
I've got a few ideas I've been pondering since the first SOHC4 tour. ;)

Excellent!

Quantity-wise it's hard to say. For a lot of the guys it may boil down to price. I'd THINK 100 minimum, probably more. It was supply on demand with individual orders made upon order. Many of us bought more than 1. I have long and short sleeve.

My thoughts are to do red and black, white lettering, long and short sleeve, gildan or hanes beefy. But then again it all depends on the art we come up with.

Speaking as one of the few women who rides in these rally's I hope we get another patch going (men's shirts just don't work on me) ha ha.  So hope the design for the shirt will transfer to a patch this go round.

There are enough women, my wife included, that would make a minimum purchase req. for shirts, I think.  I got a patch for her last year, but I'd get both a shirt and patch for her this year.

I'm staying out of this thread other than being a master critiquerer of this great new merch to come!   ;D

I may be able to get some qualified graphic designers to work on some artwork, then pass it along to whoever can coordinate the screenprinting and patch production.

EDIT:  I just received confirmation that BLiP Workshop will be glad to do the design work.  Our resident graphic designer will begin working something up this evening.  You can browse some of her work on the site and in the FB albums.  She did all our graphics for BLiP as well as the Houston Rockers vs Mods 2012 graphics.

yep .. I've been playing with a few ideas on the design... :)
I should have some art to post for feedback in a bit.

On another note...
Any suggestions on getting the shirts to print on?
How was that handled last time? Pre-orders?

I did not purchase a shirt the last time but I think they went through Cafe express which is an iron on (so print on demand).  As we are going with silk screen pre-order sounds the best (then selfishly I can get a woman's size  ;))

I would prefer pre order/direct print. I would also like to find a printer that is okay with dropping them into a flat rate and handling the shipping to the individuals.

Yeah, they were from CafePress.com (?)... On demand, iron on transfer order. Screen print MUCH preferred. I will say that the shirt quality was good. I browsed that site but was unable to find the shirts.

I have a silkscreen unit... have limited time...but am willing...have access to any shirt manufacturer as well women's ...prefer one colour as well but three would be max as long as long as colour registration is not too close...not interested in doing design ...price  one colour $10 for Gildan ...

Thats seems good to me. I used to have a small printing business so I am familliar with the work involved with multi color prints.

Is shipping going to be an issue?

Here is our submission for this year's Rally graphics.  This translates easily into a patch and a shirt (and stickers, for that matter).  It doesn't have to be on black - could be on any solid color, really.  It was created as a vector graphic and is ready for production.

I like it as well. I like the simplicity of it. I am a fan of black or navy blue shirt as they seem to last me longer (grease stains). I still would like to see some more ideas but if this is the only submission then I am ready to buy.

This can be modified, too, if needed.  For example, if more or different text would help, we can do that.  The simplicity of the design appeals to me, too.

OK, we have a submission. Good start, let's see if there ia anymore interest in this. I'll attempt to draw more attention by posting another thread and link it to this.
