As you read in old bob's post, GZ3 is now on the front range side of the big hill.  One issue still plagues us though and that is the reuniting him with those SOHC/2013 stickers that were accompanying him earlier in the relay.  They are currently MIA between Ofreen and I.  He mailed them and they have yet to arrive here.  Guess the mule that we believe brings the mail to Craig went lame.  I have oldbobs mailing address and will forward them if they show up soon.

Im meeting either oldbob and / or proto in McCook NE on Friday 7-19, around noon(ish).
Then traveling down through KS and camping for a night @ a local lake, State Park area.

Sat. 7-20-13 depart camp and head to Lawrence KS to meet member Nshadadi around noon for next hand-off.

They take GZIII onward out of KS and into Columbia MO.

I head home to drink some beer!

It'd be great to have Proto along but I haven't heard that he'll make this leg. No word from Pinhead either??

Right now it's looking like CB650/Terry will either be getting GZ Th morning at Nederland or meeting OldBob somewhere in between. At the least Terry and I will be traveling to McCook for a Friday rendevouz with Grasscutter/Zac.

I'm hoping that others might be able to ride Th or Fr from Colorado and join in Fr and beyond in Kansas.

It's getting down to the wire. If anyone wants to join in please let us know.

To Jerry and CO crew:

Yes I'm ready to go!

Here's my itinerary:
1- Leave Omaha, NE Thursday 7-18 after work.  Head to Fairbury, NE 68352 to stay night with family.
2- Leave Fairbury NE early a.m. and arrive in McCook by noon.  (approx 4 hr drive).
3-Hand-off, have lunch, etc.
4- Head out of McCook south into KS, and camp Friday night 7-19 either @ Glen Elder Lake or Wilson Lake in KS.
(anyone wanting to ride part of KS, let me know ASAP, otherwise I'm riding solo.)
5- Break camp Sat. morn. 7-20.  Head to Lawrence KS to meet Nshadadi.
6-  Arrive in Lawrence, KS around noon.
7- Lunch, hand-off,e tc.
8- GZIII heads to Columbia, MO.
9- I head home to enjoy some beers.

Estimating a little under 1000 mile round trip.
Hot!  But should be an easy trip.

For those that need it: Here's me:  402..709..8746.
Zac.  (grasscutter)

** Jerry and crew:  When are you guys planning on being in McCooK?  I'm shooting for noon.
Whoever gets there 1st, pick a spot for lunch?  I'm coming in on HWY 34 / 6.
Oddly...I lived in McCook back in the early 90's.  But can't remember much about the town.

****CB650 asked about hotel rooms?  I'm planning on heading out after the hand-off & lunch, so I can put down some miles into KS.  I won't be hanging too long in McCook.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

Noonish sounds good to me. Maybe noon - 1pm. What about everyone/anyone else? Terry says it's 250 miles from his place in Hudson. Not that I know anything about McCook, NE!! but BBQ always gets my interest. How about this place?

Taste of Texas BBQ: 112 West 11th Street • McCook • 308-345-1611
Genuine Slow-Cooked BBQ says it all.

From there we can all go our separate ways and have plenty of time to ride that aftenoon??

Bob, Terry,

Please don't do that. You'll keep Keith from riding from the Springs. He's here now and what we'd like to do is meet you in/near Nederland Thursday then ride to Hudson. How's 3pm meet up in Nederland with you sound? Pick an easy place. That'll give Terry time to catch up on his beauty rest before we get there. Would you like to ride Mt Evans? We're putting some thought into it. Maybe, maybe not.

It looks like I'm lead off person on leg 5 of the epic journey III. Who's going to be the last person in MO? I guess I need to make some plans with him.

It would be great if the last person in team 4 could take GZ into IL a little way to cut down on my trip. I'd like to be able to do this in a day so I don't have to take two days off work. No offense to anyone intended, but there really isn't much to see or do along I-64 in IL or IN and its too far to take the rabbit trails. It'll be a day to let the bike stretch its legs a little.  ;)

Yeah Magna, Team 5 starts in MO. Looks like you guys got some serious riders!

It's happening soon. We're on the road tomorrow and will be in Kansas Friday.

That would be me.

I'm hoping Madscientist can meet me east of St. Louis, the farther east the better. I'll be taking GZ through 4 states. Plans are sorta in the works, details to follow.

You want me to take GZIII from McCook in western NE all the way across Kansas into IL?
Hmm... Ok.  I'm up for the challenge...but kind of odd request a day before I leave to meet the CO crew.

Or maybe I'm not following exactly what you want.

Hey James.
Berryton is outside of Topeka, KS, right?

Jerry and crew are coming in from Colorado and meeting in McCook Ne. friday afternoon.

I'm then taking GZIII east down I-70 through Topeka into Lawrence, KS to meet Nshadadi, who will then take GZIII into Columbia MO.

Let us know ASAP, where you are wanting to meet.
Its down to the wire!

As far as a motel goes I was just thinking if we eat lunch and have a few beers its going to be a hot ride home.   A room with a pool might sound good.    Have to be a round pool for Jerry.  ;D

Rain delay. Wet points. Heavy downpour upon leaving Nederland. Took a hair dryer to them. Waiting on silicon sealer to set up a little and having a cup of coffee.

Terry, I will call you in a little bit. My cell is in the car and I have a gimpy foot and can't run through the rain.
