cb550/750 swing arm "bolt on" monoshock
« on: March 02, 2013, 08:57:48 AM »
hey guys,
i have been noticing people are doing a lot of monoshock conversions and in a bunch of pictures i am seeing a bolt on/weld on piece that essentially bolts onto the rear shock mounts and then welds to the front of the swing arm. it almost seems pretty standard in all these pictures i am seeing.  do you know what company makes them? its similar to the attached picture

Is this the one from project overkill.  I was also looking into doing this conversion.  I can't find a pre-made kit which surprises me.  If I decide to make one, maybe I will make up a couple extra and let you know.  But it's most likely gonna require tabs welded on under the rear of the tank on the frame.  I don't see any way around that one.  If you wind up finding something send me a PM.

I realize this post is pretty old but I just ran across it and thought I'd post a response.

I designed & made that particular conversion and since then, it has be reproduced a verity of ways by others. When I built the first one, I made an extra just as a back-up.  I do still have it and would be willing to sell it.
