cb400f dual brake conversion
« on: July 20, 2006, 09:20:13 PM »
I've read a few different things on the dual brake conversion for this bike...
Such as a 550 forks 79 cbx triple tree or vf500f front end..?
750 front calipers?
I have right now cb550f forks and triple tree, cb750 front wheel(needs to be relaced) 750 front calipers and a 79 cbx triple tree..
Anybody try to match any of these up successfully.....

You could always do what i did years ago to a 500 before the 550 came along. Get another slider with caliper mount and swop it for the plain one then have one caliper in front and one behind! Looks real odd but works! You still need a bigger master (GL1000) and a second disc with modified speedo drive, and you have to "alter" ( with hacksaw and welder) the front fender bracket. But like i said it works.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
