« on: March 14, 2013, 10:33:30 PM »

Try using the heat shrink tube?

The wires are burn up to. Can I solder in new ones?

From the look in the pic, not sure what you're trying to solder ???

I would try to splice up the outer jacket of the melted area off, electrical tape the inside wires individually, then wrap up the whole thing in another electrical tape, then heat shrink tube.  Someone else might have better idea though.

I was thinking of "splicing" in new wire where the melted wires are. So I would have to solder them together but of electrical tape I the already existing site is just as good I would rather do that.

I would use a very sharp knife to remove the outer cover and then inspect each wire.  If the outer insulation of each wire is ok I'd merely rewrap the entire body.  If the outer insulation of a wire is melted off I'd rewrap that wire.  Only way I would spice in a new wire would be if the inner  wire is broken .  my .02...Larry

+1  Pop the connectors out of the plug, noting where they go first, slide the outer insulation off the wires.  Inspect each wire individually, heat shrink as required, replace outer insulation and refit connectors to plug ;).
