Topic: CB750 caliper question

I have a 1972 CB750 and I'm overhauling the caliper. The piston that I pulled out had a domed shape thing in the end of the piston that pushes onto the brake pad.
I can't see this part in the work shop manual and it doesn't seem to fit the non genuine piston that I am putting in.
What is this part and do I need it.

The caliper is mounted on a Swing bracket. At one point the caliper is actually perpendicular to the rotor, and pushing straight on. Further in or out the caliper is at varying angles to the rotor. This spherical washer, takes up the difference. The back of the stationary pad should have similar bump on the back. .
 This is how it theoretically works, but dont be too surptised if pad wears at a slight angle.

The normal piston is hollow and it fits nicely into it. I would think the" new" one you have would need to make up for the space it takes up. It would effect the amount of piston travel
