Couple of tid bits  the Lesters are dated Front-10/03/78, Rear-06/27/77.  I got the oil cooler used on flea bay for thirty bucks and its off a Suzuki 1985 GS550EF.  Pic of the heart of Tsunami.

Thanks Bill I've been spending my anal hours tonight going through all the receipts and listing everything I have since I bought the bike 12/20/2012.  I'm through February $3253.94 and I haven't even hit the cycle X cost yet. Yikes! How much snow you got up there, eh?

Dumpster84, remind me to tell you the story of the big scar on my ankle from a run in I had with a dumpster in Oct of 1970 in an ally behind a bar off main street Merced, CA. , doing "just one more" wheelie for the girls.  Buffing and Polishing is a bit of an art, too fast, too slow, menial, slow, monotonous, filthy dirty work!  Once you get past all that, well that's the good, Ahhhhhh part.  The right tools help immensely but I get by with a drill, grinder and misc. buffs.  Couldn't begin to count the hours, do a little here, do a little there occasionally get on a rant sometimes and get a lot done. No work for the faint of heart!

Bill, she is doing good.  Still a little gun shy with anything that feels different in her body.  But she gets less afraid everyday.

The coldest day I ever knew was a warm day in Soo Saint Marie, Michigan.  Although I have lived in CA. since 1968 my family comes from the Mpls. Mn area with a cousin up in Silver Bay getting close to the border with you, they always said I was the smart one in the family.  I grew up in the service with my father in places like Anchorage, Fairbanks, Great Falls, Seattle, Rudyard Mich. too say the least. I went back in 1991 thinking I would stay there but tornados, sleet, hail, humity and the perfect storm that started on Halloweens eve sand didn't stop for 4 days with snow falling an inch an hour, well that was the straw that broke my back and by spring I was back in Santa Cruz, Ca.  I lasted 9 months and couldn't get out of there fast enough, LOL.  We had about 3 days of light rains about 2 months ago (Indian Summer) for us.  And last week when that Canadian Clipper Rolled down we had a couple nights below freezing.  Were just below the snow line but they got some in a town up the road about 5 miles and 100 feet higher which still has some light snow in some of the shady areas as yesterday.  Were expecting it too drop into the 30s this week at night, Daytime temps now 63 Partly Cloudy, 36° tonight.  Tue Partly Cloudy 66°/37°, Wed Mostly Cloudy 59°/36°, Thu Partly Cloudy 54°/30°, Fri Partly Cloudy 55°/32°, Sat Partly Cloudy 64°/41° etc.  If we want snow we just drive up into the Sierra Mt's and/or Lake Tahoe about 30 miles away.
Well I'm should be working so have to get back at it.  Stay well and warm my friend summer is only 4-5 months away.

Bill I hear your pain.  Reminds me of putting a bike in the living room to work on all winter, of course in those days I had little but lots of time.  Now I have some and little time! You cant win in this life, only make it bearable. Cheer up Bill winter is a good time to clean and polish.  Keeping in mind the first dry road day to go out and rip it up on a clean set of wheels.  Merry Christmas Bill.

Its anniversary Day!  One year to the day since I purchased the donor bike.  I celebrated by completing the polish of the Lester Rims and mounting the Firestone Deluxe Champions.  I've heard my Manx tank is on its return voyage from the nice folks at Legendary motorcycles in Florida which I should receive about the 30th.  A shout out to Cheryl and Dave for their excellent customer service.  Check out their stuff its quality work. Also a shout out to Rick Lytle and the guys at Folsom Cycle.  They mounted my rims in lickey split time. They know what their doing so if your in the Sacramento area give them a try.  I hope to be riding this street beast this summer.  Merry Christmas to all my vendors and you guys at here on SOHC4 forum!

I read an old post about fitment of 69-76 brake straps and 77-78 straps.  Today I mocked up a 14.25 length eye to eye out of copper as a test and I don't see why an early strap would not fit on a 77-78.  Yes the brake arm required a little adjustment but it appears to work with nothing getting in the way?  No I am not going to use a copper strap, though it seems strong enough.  Yes I know the axel adjusting block is missing, its one of those sock issues.  When I switched out the old Wheel it went to adjusting block heaven but it has to be there some where.  Thanks for the remarks fella's.

I'm looking for two things.

(1)A fabricator - to fab me an oil tank similar to the one in the photo.

(2) and would like to converse with someone who has installed a Power Arc QT-2 Coil Pack on a CB750

Tsunami,

This might help with thing #1:

Ian Halcott (http://caferacerseatandtank.com/) is making me an oil tank/fender to replace the stock oil reservoir.  [Note:  Ian is presently on vacation until January.]  This differs from the design in your post, in that it doubles as a fender (replacing the stock inner fender) and allows the triangle under the seat to remain open.   Ian sent me some pictures of one he previously made:

Hey CBCRFAN,  That is a really cool idea.  I think you may have mentioned it on your site or I read somewhere someone doing that.  A lot of work, I wouldn't be so presumptuous to ask what it will cost you, as long as you don't ask the cost of my build to date! LOL  That's going to look really good.  I checked in with a young fellow up in the Seattle area who had moved to San Diego area and was in a band. He had built a seat with the tank in the back but it was out of my price range. I like the one in my photos as it might be do able for me to make the parts with hand/power tools and have someone local weld them up. probably what I will be able to afford. But I do like that one of yours, would appear to be the most logical way to go in a build of our types.  By the way will you be keeping yours in your garage???  Just kidding.

I got my Lyta Manx tank back from Legendary Motorcycles.  I cant say enough about those folks, Cheryl and Dave.  They moved my fuel bungs and installed the front puck stays for me.  I would not hesitate to purchase from them again.  Depending on how much riding I will be doing I have my eye on one of their CR Fairings.  Good to hear from you thanks for the info, if I get stymied later I just might see what your man could do on mine.  My wife got me one of those little guardian bells to put on the bike, says if I'm going to ride it she will get 5 or 6 more!  In the mid 70's she would go anywhere with me on my first one and I was the only person her Dad would in trust her too to ride on a motorcycle.

Have a GREAT New Year calibration, Greg (or celebration)

Not a lot to report, more of an update.  I've been hashing out a good way to mount my Battery and electrics.  I've worked out that the battery will go on the rear and be hid by the seat, I had mocked out in cardboard a 1" deep pan to sit in the area where the battery used to be. After taking photos will go 3/4" deep.  I will put the rest of the electrics in this tray.  I've shortened the front of the seat front to align with the rear of the long tank.  I will be placing a "L" angle bar across the top of the frame allowing me to place a fastner through the bottom rear lip of the tank into the L bar to hold the rear of the tank down. In a surplus store I ran across some motor mounts cheap and bought four.  Two will mount to the upper frame rail just behind the tank.  The mounts have a 1/4 X 20 female sort of a blind nut in the middle of the rubber mount.  This will hold down the front of the seat.  The rear was much more difficult. I mocked out a platform in cardboard which will mount to that big bracket that normally holds up the rear fender and another U shape bracket in front of that, welded to the frame rail.  I thought to use wood for the platform so began working up a 1/2" piece of marine plywood.   I mounted the battery and held everything together with duck tape to see if the seat would clear,  I would have enough room for the seat not to bottom out on the top of the battery, it wouldn't so back to the drawing board.  Part of the problem with fitting the platform is the inside of the fiberglass razor back seat is not uniform and has an under curve. So in order to get the seat over the platform, the platform has to be much narrower to clear the bottom of the seat than the inside which bulges outward?  Probably not making much sense but hope the pictures may help.  Anyway! So I routed out an area in the platform to lower the battery some what which helped, but still need more clearance so made a bracket out of wood to help support the platform but didn't like that at all, began to look cheesy.  So dumped the wood material and substituted a piece of thinner aluminum plate which appears to be the answer.  I will hold the battery to the plate with angle channel all around.  In the rear will be a brace with one of the motor mounts on top for the rear of the seat to rest on, problem solved. Well that was a big leap today. Got me charged up as I had been down for the last two weeks with an infected lymph gland under my jaw from a molar going south.  Very painful.  I'm going to run down to the garage to get some pics to help explain what I'm talking about.
