Engine is Finally Complete, short two screws and the Oil Pressure Gauge. Life has gotten in the way of late, as usual. Had lots of issues dialing in the new CycleX cam. All is well now. All buttoned up, padded and wrapped in plastic until installation.

The stainless braided carb drain lines is a pretty nice touch as well.

Thanks, I used Tygon inside but the Green/Yellow didn't work for me so I pumped up the look to stay with my mostly metal theme. Speaking of a good eye, the angle on your photo for the avatar works well. Will have to remember that one. Found your build site nice work on your dads bike, reminds me of my 74 Sunrise Orange Flake I bought new. Stay with the stock look as much as possible and never, never sell it. Save it for YOUR son.

Kidding, I guess your referring to the large red, LOUD, Hella horns? beep, beep just doesn't work for me when some soccer mom is changing lanes with out looking or some semi just doesn't see me! If loud pipes save lives, loud horns could only help. You should hear these suckers!

Add in the modulating headlight and they will know your coming. I couldn't find a way to hide them and still get the full effect so when in doubt put them where they work. I will likely change the color so they blend in more. Certainly is different. I LIKE IT!

I do really like the angle of the pic in avatar. Bike looks really imposing/menacing I think.

And yes, my plan is to keep Dad's old bike as stock as possible and ride it forever/hand it down hopefully.

Hi all to those who may check in. Been busy staying alive during the Government (hardly what I would call it) shut down. What ever happened to majority rule?

Anyway, I got the cam dialed in, didn't really need it, should have saved the money I spent for the tools. Set the valves and buttoned her up. Padded the engine and wrapped in Cellophane. Took it off the work table placed it on a moving dolly and put in a safe spot in the garage.

I am taking a Hiatus from bike building, trying to place all my efforts on finding more work no thanks to the Bozo Brigade in Washington! This country needs term limits and get rid of those career politicians. Those people should be ashamed of them selves, all of them. Nothing good came of the whole thing and its still really not resolved were being held hostage by these knuckle heads! Sorry about the rant but Hey I'm just the 900 pound gorilla in the room.

Well were not dead yet, I sure when some time allows I'll touch on something? I'm thinking I have all the stuff to do the wheel polishing. Even though its a nasty dirty job I love the feeling when I'm able to bring something back to life. Stay tuned I think the Lester's will look great! Thanks for the shout out Bill.

Managed to get some polishing done on the Lesters, inner/outer rings and the hubs. Still undecided on which way to go with the spokes? Also got my grips to fit and modified for the Grip-Ace switching system. The Manx tank has been a bear to configure. The petcock bungs are right over the frame rails and need to be moved. I have not had much luck in finding suitable cups to glass in for the front pucks to slip into. Wrote Legendary Motorcycles where I purchased the tank last spring. They suggest I send it back and they will move the bungs and send me their kit to glass in the their cups for a modest fee of course. I likely to do that route. Im short on time these days, my wife is in hospital with A fib, an irregular heart beat due to the valves not working as they should, very scary stuff. So Im doing this tonight to get my mind off it for awhile. Enjoy the pics hope everyone is well and Happy Holidays.

Oh I forgot, I found a old oil adapter to add an oil cooler and found a nice oil cooler from an suzuki 1985 GS550EF oil cooler.

It was pretty scary, her heart went into A-Fib, sort of like a double beat very fast, shortness of breath, numbness in both arms. Had to call 911. The emergency room brought the pulse down. Over three days they used a chemical treatment to get her heart into sinus rhythm, they used one for 36 hours which did nothing, the second one luckily did the trick in about 14 hours. Had they not been able to convert her that way they would have tried putting her under, stop her heart then shock it back. Holy Moley ! She is still on some nasty meds but was able to bring her home on Thanksgiving day. We just take it day by day now. Thanks for thinking of her Bill.

Ive been spending a lot of time getting the edges of the mags to polish up. Through 35 years of someone messing with them makes it nearly impossible to get them perfect. The are however slowly coming along. Had to send the tank back to Florida to have the petcock bungs moved, the great folks at Legendary Motorcycles are sending a new one instead and hope to be getting the cup kit to glass on for the front mounts. Got some good ideas for mounting the seat so I will be able to switch tanks, stock for long trips, (not likely) but some future owner might like it. Stripped the oil cooler and got paint on it. Santa whispered in my ear that some bar end signals, clamp on blindside mirrors, rear sets may be on the sleigh this year. Cant wait until Xmas morning. Thanks guys for the concern for Rita Kay, Id be lost without her. She whispered in my ear the other day that some little elf let on I may be getting a few things for Tsunami, maybe some rearsets, bar end turn signals and some Blindside Mirrors. Can wait until Christmas morning. Polishing the Lesters spokes has been an all encompassing endeavor. I've sanded from 220,320,400 and 600 grit paper to cut down many of the filing marks. Now I've begun with buffing grit 2 only 3,4,5,6 grits to go! Lets see 7 spokes per wheel, 2 wheels = 14 X 4 ribs per spoke is 56 ribs X 5 grits = 280 times I have to polish a rib before I am done excepting fixing up any scratches I've made doing so then finally mount the tires! Arrrrrgh ever ask why we do this? Ya Ya I know non of us want to drive an expensive factory bike, so we build our own very different, very expensive home built bike. Makes it all worthwhile. If you haven't gone too far yet on the buffing/polishing of your mags, try glass bead blasting them. It'll get you started farther along and allow you to even them out, then polish up for final shine.

Depending upon the grit you use, may even help knock out some scars to avoid heavy filing.

Thanks for the info. I've gotten pretty good a buffing, albeit my tools are rudimentary, started in 1974 with some of my earlier bikes. Ten years of it in the 90s when I had a 1959 26' Owens Flagship, all mahogany and brass. Took 4 years to restore. Every year and then some to keep bright, she was a neat old boat and I miss her.

Anyway original Lesters were painted all black shiny rims. Many polished the ribs of the spokes. Mine are completely stripped rims and hubs buffed. I could not decide what to paint them but may yet. Right now everything that was ruff and black is natural excepting the ribs of the spokes which is how they will remain until mounted on the bike. After that it depends on the look as to what I may do with the ruff parts?

Some photos to follow show the detail of the spokes, before and after of the calipers. Also to follow would be some before and after of cutting the opening for the tail light and the filet nearly completed. Some finish work on the edges needed. When painted the light will have a small bead of black silicon around the edge or some type of vinyl or rubber edging.
