Spoked wheels for my cb with 2008 GSXR front end?
« on: April 06, 2013, 06:43:26 PM »
Hey guys I just got a 2008 GSXR front end for my 73 CB500, I have read a couple threads about machining hubs to make them work with the dual disks for the Gixxer front end. Im wondering if anyone sells a ready fit hub for this application or a entire wheel? If not is there someone here that could handle that?

Thanks guys I cant wait to start posting some pictures of the build

I know there is a guy on the dotheton website that sells them. He has a few of them laying around since he had to buy 10 or so in order for the shop to build his. Name is speedbump. give him a shout.

Old thread, I know, but since GSXR swaps are still happening, I'm throwing this out there. A factory Honda front disc brake hub will work with a GSXR front end. Hub is from a 1976 CB750. Rotors can be done a few different ways, this is set up with '99 CBR900RR rotors.

Hey SecondShift,

Not sure if you're still around here, but could you provide a few more details about this setup? Can you use the original speedo drive with this setup?

The plural of "anecdote" is not "data" (Borgmann 2002:5).

usually no. it takes a bit of work to use a stock speedo. I just did one over the past few days to retain stock speedo but it's quite a bit of work on the lathe and mill to make a multi-piece spacers setup to relocate the speedo driver while also still having it function.

on top of all the time and labor into making custom axle adapters, rotor spacers/adapters need to be made to get the rotors centered into the calipers, and triple trees need to be made for proper offset/trail. Pretty easy to spend about $500-600 in materials and then all the machining, which is why cognito moto makes what he does for what it costs.
