Another turn signal flashing issue
« on: April 07, 2013, 07:17:47 AM »
Hi All,
Cant seem to figure this one out - help please.
CB750 K4 replacement turn signals with double filament fronts and single rears.

Front signals come on and second filament lights up when the turn switch is activated. Rear only comes on when switch is activated. However, I get NO BLINKING.

I've already swapped out the flasher with a 2 prong electronic version - still nothing. I've taken 2 videos trying to figure out if I was getting power at the flasher and found something strange.. power only seems to come on when the switch is travelling to position but then i lose power when the switch is at full position. Videos can explain much better i hope...

I can pm you a video link as i cant seem to link one here.

Dirty contacts in the switch slider is why you have the "sweet spot".  I had the same issue on my bike and others have too. Take switch apart and clean the copper slider thing with light grit sandpaper and your favorite cleaner. Thick grease on the ball slider and other moving parts. I kept grease off the slider tho

Or you could be ghetto and shoot wd40 up the hole and hope for the best

Thanks - I bought new controls and swapped the "guts" into my old cases which i polished. I'll have a look - maybe I messed something up when i inserted the new control mechanisms.

The guts are what you gotta clean, if I am understanding the issue right. That copper slider with like 5 contact points

The controls were in fact the issue. The new mechanism seemed to travel farther then the previous and would cut out. Added a stopper in the case to each side and the problem is solved!
Thanks again.
