Small updates, I dropped off the oil tanks with a friend to have a port on the bottom welded on to connect all 3 to 1 main feed. Also got my tail back from paint and mounted it as well to see the final look. The paint is amazing and has such nice color in person. The carbs have also been sent to Ken At cycle X for work.

The strips have both Flake and Pearl, very hard to capture in pictures.







Now I just need to see what I am gonna do about the gap between the tank and the seat.

Ive been extremely busy recently, I am in the process of wiring the bike and all and I have finally finished the oil tanks that people have asked for photos on.

Oil tank, is backwards in the photo, the bottom is the feed and the top bung is the return

As you can see in the second picture of the oil tank, it has brackets. I already welded on a flat stock onto the bike that these are mounted to. The great thing is there are adjustable so I can move then up and down for more or less clearance

And for those of you who need to replace the rear master cylinder for rear disks, I had TONS of problems sourcing a rebuild kit. I ended up mocking my GSXR master cyl and it ended up fitting.  I had to use a piece for flat stock and cut a piece out of it but it works like a charm! The cyl I ended up using permanently was only 20 bucks from eBay from a 2007 GSXR 600.

Why unusual? Due to the oil tanks? Everything else is "Cafe-ish" I would say.


Yes sir, I can dig it. How are you dealing with venting the tank and the motor?

Are you referring the case vent on the back and the one on the valve covers?


I got the bike started yesterday but am having issues with the starter solenoid, anyone have any recommendations for a new one? I want the one from Dime City but its not in stock and on backorder as well. The main issue I am having is running the 2 separate wires from the solenoid, no matter how I hook them up the solenoid will not kick on. The only way I am able to start the bike is by jumping the solenoid.

Here it is for cheaper ;)

I have the same one on my bike and I love the fact that it's fused. As for the venting, you gotta run that vent from the back side of the motor back to the oil tank (or to a catch can) in some fashion, as it will occasionally puke oil. You cannot just put a breather filter there. You can put a breather filter on the crankcase vent. The oil tank will also need to be vented in some fashion, either through the cap, or back through the motor.

Ah yes, the oil tanks have 1 breather on it, as far as the rear ''puke hole" it actually vents back into the oil tank. If you look in this pic:

You can see that the rear case where it may puke runs into the 3d and furthest oil tank. Also for the solenoid, what do you mean its "Fused", the electrical area has me stupmed. Ive rewires this bike 8 times so far and im starting to think its just the solenoid that's causing the problem since the switch is good. Ive seen that relay before but what confuses me is the 4 pin connector on it, what am I supposed to do with it?

The 4 pin is where you would connect your starter button (on two of the pins), one side is hot, the other side to ground. When you press the button, it completes the circuit, and the relay closes, giving full juice through the fat gauge wires from your battery to the starter.



You can see in my photo, the small red lead is from the 12V source and goes to one side of the blade connectors, the black alligator clip is in place of a switch, and I was touching it to ground to roll the starter. On the two lugs of the solenoid, one is battery 12v, the other is the starter cable.

The push button can be wired on either the neg or positive side.

Small update, the current shocks on the bike are beyond bad so I decided to give these a try. For the price I paid, if they suck then oh well. I really like the look but I am not expecting an Ohlins type ride.

You guys have been a huge help, so based on what I am reading im still a bit confused sorry. What confuses me now is the starter button since its a 2 post button. Does this look correct?



Also, for all the other wires that need to run to the solenoid, I will still be connecting them to the main positive post correct?

Ya I tore the bike down and rewired everything, for switched power I will run it of off the keyswitch in that case. Ill buy that solenoid now and hopefully that solves the problem and I can get this thing going. Now I just have to take apart the brand new rebuilt and jetted carbs I got from Ken at Cycle X as they are pissing fuel out of the intake port. I gotta check the floats and see if there are possible stuck. You guys have been a huge help!

When I mentioned other wires to the solenoid, I was referring to this:

115.00 shipped. On the ground they feel much better the original blown shocks.

Guys I need more help soon these carbs are rebuilt and jetted by cycle x and see the picture below, this is happening on 2 carbs on the air filter side. wtf causes this?? I've checked the floats and they are not stuck

You appear to have a bad float valve or something is blocking it from closing completely. Remove the float bowl and gently push the float up to close the needle, turn on the gas and see where the gas comes from.

So I got the carb figured out, when UPS shipped them to me the the float valve managed to get stuck. I had to use a razor blade to get it out. Reassembled everything and fired it up, here is a quick video as my phone died.
