Re: DID THESE BASTARDS SEND ME THE WRONG EXHAUST ???

* EXHAUST UPDATE *

The exhaust is on the bike , and sounds WICKED with no baffle.
The stock exhaust "thing-e's" came out with a impact driver like butter, which was nice.
Two days of random wd40 blasts prob. helped alittle I am sure.
Exhaust went on with no major issues, except for the "cannon" lining up for #$%*, and looks like ass in the pics below (only temporary)
I used the provided black allen bolts to mount up the exhaust 4 the time being , but will go to studs eventually (I promise ;D)
The exhaust is gonna be on and off the bike allot in the next few weeks , so I am not doing anything permanent.

As you can see from the pics, the header sits real real LOW. While on the sidestand, the lowest part of the collector is less than 4'' off the ground, then make the bike upright and put my 200lbs. ass on it, and it is low. Took it for about a 1/2 hour ride, and only bottomed it out once, so I just need to be careful, and if it gets bad I am gonna take it off and do alittle "metal work" to flatten it out a bit before I header wrap it..

The thing sounds KICK ASS. Best way I can describe it would be go to your local racetrack, or cruise night and look for a extended crotch rocket with a "pro-pipe" on it. It sounds identical to that. Cruising around it is decently loud, but anything over 3grand on the tach and it screams. As far as jetting goes, I think the bike is actually running the best it ever has since I have owned it. Maybe the bike needed a 4 into 1 to respect itself, who knows  ;D For once the bike seems to be smoking out of the exhaust, but that could be a host of things, like wd40 in the cyllinders, excess paint being burned off, etc.. If it blows , it blows, then I do a 836cc kit  ;D ;D

Plans are to cut about 2'' of pipe between the cannon and the collector, and angle the cannon up alittle to get more of a aggressive look to it. Plus I plan to make a new mount , so I can FINALLY cut those stupid looking passenger peg mounts off the bike..
Then once all is said and done , and I am gonna headerwrap it and move on to the next project..

More pics to come - and a big THANKS for all the help with this project...

  • Shut up when you're talkin' to me!!
I really need to get my camera up so I can show you mine Pro Teal.As a matter of fact...I'm going to go out to the garage right now and measure my ground clearance........OK,I'm back.....3&3/4 inches!!! I figured you would have a bit more with your 21 incher up front but you also lost a bit with the 16 inch rear.Also...you are running the shorty shocks...right? I'll tellya'...I was trippin' about it at first but haven't had any probs.Of course,I shy away from speed bumps and haven't had the pleasure of a good pothole yet.The sound my pipe makes and the look of it are worth the risk to me.I mean,Hell...it ain't no dirt bike or anything!!!!

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Well the headers look ok, but the rest of that pipe looks a little, er, un-attractive? I wouldn't worry about fitting exhaust studs Proty, they only make it harder to get the engine out, just use some anti sieze on the bolts or else they'll weld themselves into the head via electrolysis. What's wrong with the "X Pipe", I've heard that they're actually pretty good! If anyone's got one that they don't want, send it to me! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

As I said Terry, I still have a few things to do to the exhaust to get it looking the way I want it to.
I am gonna cut about 2'' outta the pipe, and angle it outwards to give the exhaust more of an aggressive look to it. I am using the exhaust on STEVEF's yellow bike as a "model" to go off of. Then when I am happy with the systems looks, I plan to headerwarp it all the way to the cannon itself. Will look good when it is all said and done. I am just happy the bike runs as good as it does..

When I had my buddy sit on the bike and looked underneath, I thought for sure I was gonna have a issue with clearance. I took a quick ride around the neighborhood, and when I was expecting a bottom-out, it didn't happen  ;D. I still think I am gonna remove the header and do alittle "flattening" for more piece of mind while riding. No matter how bad I mangle the exhaust getting it to where I need it to be, once it is header-wrapped, no one will know  ;) I bought this system with the full intention on modifing it to what I wanted..
