Commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic today, longest running battle of the war so all you Matelots, Killiks and other ranks, "Ready Aye Ready" and "Splice the Mainbrace".

No I think it's from Nelson's time and the American Navy practiced splicing the main brace fairly recently "USS BARB 1944" and almost all the west's Navies practised the custom.
Basically a shot of Rum per day or more as celebration. Might not mean much to you guys but it fits with most navies traditions (ie Battle of Atlantic).
