the boyer micro power is a true "hop up" kit that will at the same time free up charging power,if you want to retain points dont even consider it,if you want the fall back of points dont consider it,although if your looking for a more solid charging rate even at lower rpms along with a higher spark output at the same time and are prepared to spend some money on a reliable unit you might consider using the boyer micro power system,too many dynas have thrown a dark shadow on any electronic systems as a whole,,the pamco unit would also be a good choice ive never used one but the ever failing dynas swings me that way,,the other option is dark,,very dark,,a hybrid of GM/bosch modules coupled with susy or cb650 pick ups etc,a mish mash of solid reliable parts,the boyer pick up plate can even be used,,you never heard it from me mind you??so?how do i set my points again?i think ive got one and two squared away?but the gap keeps changing?now they wont spark?it wouldnt surprise me to find 98%of any electronic ignition failure is due to installer error?wrong coils or wrong connections,,#$%* me dead,,half the #$%*s on any forum cant even get their #$%*ing indicators working,yet will #$%* can an electronic ignition system?

Considering it is the same Hondaman ignition for both bikes, I bet it works!

Slightly off topic: the single point version has been adapted to a 72 Vespa Sprint, removing the need for the totally craptacular VespaTronic conversion. Saw there is a 6v version... Have to tell the Vespa boys about that...

Actually, it would be the same kit, if the 3-ohm coils would fit the 450? Haven't tried that one.

Question: will with the kit be possible to use spark plugs with build-in resistors? I am asking because I was curious to try the iridium spark plugs, but they do not come without the resistors, and I cannot find connectors with no build in resistors as well.

The OEM sparkplug caps for the 1969-1974 SOHC4 bikes were 7500 ohms. If you use the 5000 ohm caps, you should also be able to use the 2000 ohm (typical) sparkplug with it and be within the range of the coils, so long as the resistances match well from one plug to the next.

That was my experience, too. I think those plugs might be designed for much higher-voltage, fuel-injected engine situations where combustion is tightly controlled. That certainly isn't these engines!

They made my 05 Buell have a very lousy low rpm stumble that would almost throw you over the handlebars. It was absolutely terrible.

Any word from Dyna yet?  My timeline just moved up dramatically as the result of repeated condenser failure and a strong desire to use my newly rebuilt engine, new tire, sprockets, brake shoes and fabricated exhaust.

I've been working 12-16 hour days since early June, haven't much time recently.
Heck, I haven't even been able to get to a new bank to fix my Paypal for almost a year, now! Whew...

Yes, I'll be attempting to paste together something, probably in January. I've been so tied up at work that I haven't even had time to assemble my poor 750, now sitting on the patio, shivering, naked in the snow...

But, I think this project is approaching the end, finally. I've got 5 such "projects" in the works, now! For this one, I am leaning toward the "mini" coils in 3.0 ohm type for their improved fit: the older Green ones are bigger than OEM coils, and the 500/550 is already hard pressed for space under the tank. Heck, they barely fit under the K1 750 tank!
