Charging system
« on: May 13, 2013, 04:27:29 PM »
I have a few questions, I'm confused.  I have XS coils (3.3ohms), I have a Pamco ignition, and Oregon parts rectifier and regulator. I have a new harness. I have a new right side control coming.
I read where I should use be using Hondaman's resistor setup. I don't have the 5k caps because I have resistor iridium plugs. I am in the process of getting Hondaman's fuse block with the blade fuses.

Okay, when I switch the kill switch to run, I blow the 15a fuse. Could it be caused by the resistance of the coils?. When the kill switch is in the off position, I have lights, turn signals, and the engine turns over. The battery is brand new. I'm to the point of taking the bike to the dealer for the problem.

It's got me scratching my ass. At least the weather here sucks right now.  Bob
Bike is a 74 cb750k

It isn't the coils blowing it. Eiminate the RH switch from the occasion by jumpering a hot black to the black white for the coils and unplug the black going into the kill switch

If it works after that then you have found your culprit. If not break out another fuse

Check for chafed wires where they enter/exit the bars and near the tank tunnel and rubbers. Also check over for any hot wires that are chafed or the male to female part is exposed a bit. Did you, when hooking up something non stock, accidentally switch up a ground and hot wire that is wired with different colors?
