Idaho Falls?
« on: May 15, 2013, 02:08:25 PM »
Moved from the PDX to Idaho Falls...not out of choice but for work.  Looking for anybody in the area that would be interested in meeting up.  Shot in the dark I know...but I thought I would give it a shot!  I have a 75 400f and a 78 550k.  I welcome all comments.

There is at least one active member in your area. Also, check out this thread on the relay. And welcome.

Hi Scott,
I live in Idaho falls by choice ;) well actually Ririe but close enough. I've got a 72 500 and my wife has a 77 400f we are rebuilding right now. I'm headed out of town this weekend until the end if the month but would love to meet up for a ride. Would also be really cool if you want to join the relay with us :)

Hey Motorfist...sorry about the quote, really wanted winter to be over when I wrote that as I am not used to it.  I wouldn't mind joining the ride but I don't think I will be able to.  I definetely would love to meet up for a ride however!  Look forward to your reply.

Thanks,
Anderson

Hey Anderson!
No need to apologize for anything :) As for wanting winter to be over early, maybe purchase a snowmobile next fall so as not to lose you mind. That's what i have to do and it satisfies the itch pretty well. Anyway, I will let you know what happens with the relay ride as it gets a little closer. I totally understand you can't make it but will keep you posted in case anything changes. Sounds like it will be mid June when it is in our area.

Every Thursday night, Rexburg Motorsports hosts a bike night ride. It usually starts at their shop at 6 and the group goes for a fun ride on some of our many local twisties and throws in a dinner stop as well. I go to that when I can. Big diversity of bikes from super charged HDs to gixxers to bikes like ours. You can go to rexburgmotorsports.com and sign up for the bike night news letter and they give you a heads up each week on time and location. I'd go tonight but the weather isn't awesome and I'm recovering from jet lag so probably not safe this week :)

I will keep in touch and you are welcome to do the same!
Thanks,
Josh

Thanks Josh! I will keep in touch too.  I will look into the Rexburg gig and hopefully we will get a chance to meet up and chat.  Also, I was looking to get a group together in the idaho falls area for more of the "cafe" style.  Do you think I should even go there?  Just a thought and I think it would be pretty cool to meet some other local guys that are into roughly the same style bikes.  I haven't seen to many cafe bikes out here so I might be totally daft about this but thought I would ask.

That could be fun in IF. There are a few kicking around. I've seen a couple nice bikes and a few not so nice. Might consider cafe/vintage maybe? There is a shop on 17th street called Legendary Motorcycle and he builds immaculate British bikes. I have a buddy with a 73 Triumph Tiger in there now. It is worth a look sometime when you are bored. One of his Nortons went for $16k on eBay this winter I believe. His shop might be a good networking or meeting place for such an event?  His shop is on the west end of 17th street near the Sandwich Tree eatery.

Also Bonneville County Choppers on Yellowstone has been building xs650 hard tails and the owner Mike Martinez has a blue cb750 cafe. They have a little coffee stand out front so another possible hang out. If nothing else, they could be spots to hang up recruitment flyers or something?  Whatever you decide, my wife and I are interested. I will have her cb400 done in a couple weeks and then I will start on my RD350!
