ARD Magneto

I've used the search to no avail.......I need the belt size and pulley sizes for a FM type ARD magneto.  And a suggestion of where to get them.  Somewhere was a list of FM parts......maybe a ARD sticky?

 I myself have the later CDM  A.R.D.  Magneto on my bike.  Terry from Australia or Retro Rocket should be able to help ya. They both have Fairbanks Morse  A.R.D. magneto's.   ;)   If you need magneto parts, here is a place that can help you with parts or rebuilding services......

Johnny, are you certain the ARD takes a 150mm belt? My records indicate a 160mm length (Gates 160XL037 PowerGrip Timing V-Belt). Thanks in advance for clarification. I guess I'd better check it on an ARD tomorrow... RR

                 These are not the stock spec's for the A.R.D.  Fairbanks Morse magneto.  Puppytrax made up his own setup using different pulley's and belt.   He clearly stated that he wanted to use wider pulley's and belt .   ;)

I got the pulleys and belts from a company named Bearings and Drives (You can google them)
I had mine rebuilt buy this company

Johnny, if you're changing pulleys I don't think anyone will know since the only info available on belt length is for use with stock pulleys. After you get your pulleys mounted, you might want to run a string around both pulleys and then measure the length of the string in millimeters. That should equate to the first three digits of the belt number. RR

I have a few belts and pulleys on my shelf.  Jleather here and on the hondachopper board is using them to rebuild his mag.  send him a message and ask him what size the belts are.  He's got all my stuff nwo.

I just checked aht the belt should be 160 mm.  The pulleys are 15 and 30 tooth.  The 30 tooth requires a tapered bore and the 15 needs a stepped 7/16 bore under the pulley and a 3/8" bore through the shoulder where the set screws are.  you can cut the 7/16 bore so that it aligns the pulley correctly with the 30 tooth when it's fully pressed on and mounted.

Cut the taper first then fit the second pulley..  20 thou more off a taper can move it over a lot..
