Motor mount bolts
« on: May 23, 2013, 07:52:34 PM »
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find any of the 3 motor mount bolts for sale anywhere, including eBay. At some point during the removal of my engine, the rear main bolt (threaded on both ends) got slightly bent and the threads on one end completely flattened. Does anyone know where to get a replacement?

The motorcycle salvage yard in Indy has barrels of motormounts. Or I'll bet eBay; or I'd have a machine shop whip one together for you. I had stainless steel ones made from scratch for $25ea.

You can really cheapout with some all-thread from the hardware store.

PS: Sorry I see you looked at eBay. I'm surprised.

Sorry I never specified - I'm looking for all the hardware, minus the triangular motor mounts, for a '73 CB750. Maybe my search terms weren't good enough for eBay but I couldn't find anything.

Tons of CB750F and super sport bolts. Not going to work for a K3...that's been the issue.

F & K were both SOHC in 78. Should be fine.

Second that, I am fixing F3 engine to go in K3 frame and the mockup with F3 bolts worked.

I had the same issue. Bolt came out bent on the end and completely flattened about 1/4 of the bolt threads. I couldn't find a replacement quickly so I used a thread file and it worked like a charm. I thought they were beyond repair but it turned out really well. Just a thought if you can't find anything.
Basically mixing a 76 and 78 cb750k. I'm probably pissing off all the purists but at least I'm happy when I throw my leg over her.
