Is this an exhaust from a cb750 F on my K8?

started out with a brake problem then noticed something very obvious ( can you see it?lol)
well I am wondering why this was done ... I looked from the top and it looks like it may have been done to clear the exhaust. Why I haven't a clue unless it was a different muffler mated to a cb750 F 4-1 header slapped on my K8. Any how I am trying to rectify this situation and any help is greatly appreciated.

It's certainly not an F silencer.
Maybe an F brake pedal will sort it.

should be no need for that mod.  the proper lever should angle out on its own to be in front of the foot peg.
and it wont interfere with the exhaust.

I don't think the factory exhaust on any of the F bikes requires removal to get at the oil filter. I know the 400 and 550F's don't.

A quick search reveals that the 750F pipes do block the filter housing, so yes, that appears to be a factory 750F header, but an aftermarket muffler.

First off you will need a K brake pedal. Then when you go to slide it on you should see why the hack job was done. Probably a clearance issue with that fat muffler. Notice the arm does not line up with the missing adjustment bolt. You either need the oem 4 into 4 $$$$ or a 4 into 2 that is what I have on mine. Made for the 77-78K. The price is so high for the oem it makes the 4 into 2 look like a good option and they sound pretty damn good mine has a good deep mellow sound to it. I have never been a fan of the 4 into 1 system on any bike. Also if you keep that air box the carbs if stock will be fine.

The header is from an F but the muffler is not.  It looks like you can't get the filter off without removing the header but you can.  The brake pedal pivot is positioned differently between the K and F bikes and the K bike pedal will not work without some type of modification or possibly hanging the exhaust a bit lower.  Could also try an F pedal.  It has been done so maybe someone with first hand info can chime in.  On the middle pic the stock F muffler is hanging lower than it would on an F bike to give room to clear the passenger footpeg and give the pedal some clearance.  If you are keeping the F header I think the existing solution is not that bad, just needs to be cleaned up a bit/paint, PC, or chromed.  You can see how high the pedal is positioned on the K bike.

This was in regards to the exhaust and the other was inregards to the brakes. But yes they are related I just thought it would be sensible to keep the topics seperate rather than one run on post covering multiple subjects
