Half ya luck, Love old tools like that. Good tools from 30 years ago that survived are still good tools today.
Give em some wire wheeling, they'll look good.

I have several S-K Wayne sockets that were my dad's. About 70 years old.

I have some Plumb brand wrenches from the 40's that have "WAR FINISH" stamped on them. I also have some of the SK sockets. I tried to turn down one of the sockets on the lathe and none of the tooling would touch it, not even the cobalt.

in the early 70's i worked in a american auto parts store . we sold s-k wayne tools . good tools.

McLeods stores in Canada sold Wayne I do believe
I use Hazet snap ring pliers on master cylinders, I like them.
And I have a beater wagon type tool storage they build..
Sorta useful I think..
Like a personal Assistant.... and they been building their stuff for 150 years..

well I sorted it all out,only kept coupla things for my self and sold the lot for $120,easy coulda got more but not greedy = quick sale.

I had some that were rusted up like those, overnight soak in prep and etch and they came out like new.

yeah I only wire wheeled a couple to see the brands etc,thats part of the attraction guys like to clean things up so i left em rusty,a blokes coming from Toowoomba on sunday for them so im holding it all for him,had a coupla calls and an offer of 150 even though the add says 120?i think was same person different number who I explained guys coming sunday if not your next in line,i paused the add so I don't get swamped!

no that's a 6" crestalloy made in usa,but just to keep you happy I do have an 8" bacho made in Sweden,found in a dumpster off course,its a nice tool.

I also have an electric hand drill that used to drill rivet holes in B-17's. It still works great. It is stamped U.S. GOVT. PROP. My favourite old tool that I have is a 48" bed Montgomery Wards leather belt drive lathe from the 50's or 60's I think.

I have a set of SK Wayne that were my Dad's. Wrenches and sockets in a metal box. I'll try to get a pic. Edit, I had them out Saturday but my phone was in the shop and didn't get a pic. I nabbed a snap on plug socket out of the box. It's not SK and I need a better one in the race car tools.

A neighbor offered me a chance to look through his garage sale find. I ended up dragging home two drawers of old wrenches. Some of them are marked ford, a couple have the IH logo, most just say drop forged. They were in two steel drawers. My thought is to make a display from the old drawers. They would be too heavy to wall hang but a set of wooden stands would be easy to make.
There are a few Flathead valve keeper insert tools, valve spring compressors etc. I started a new thread and just remembered this one so I added on here.

Yep, a few years ago I watched a magnificent "Pratt and Whitney" lathe and an old Aussie surface grinder get thrown in an industrial bin, and I felt sick. The scrap metal guy had to give defence $5.00 per tonne for every tonne of steel recovered, but those two machines would have been worth thousands (or at least hundreds) to someone like me. It still pisses me off, even though this is the wrong thread.........

this old lathe went to scrap Terry few years ago,it was a ward 35 or something?old boss got it given to him and it spent ten years down the back of the shed,sold it for scrap in the end,i still drive that same truck, Dean in the photo drives for another skip mob now though.

Wow, what a shame Dave, that's a special lathe too, I can't think of the type off the top of my head, but back in the day it would have been "state of the art". Very sad to see it go into scrap. The Pratt and Whitney lathe was much smaller, but would have been great for motorcycle restoration, especially for old Brit or American bikes.

The lathe in Dave's pic is a turret lathe. I paid about 4000.00 for mine.
In 2015 I had a hard time getting400 for it, and only because it was same as the one the buyer had in use.
It ended up in scrap last year. I still have a lot of the tooling, no bites although the ad ran for years.
So not all lathes are the same. A turret lathe is not good for general work.
