CB125 - What kind of carb do I have?
« on: June 20, 2013, 06:05:39 am »
Tried ordering a new float, and got one that said it was for a 1975 CB125, but it's way bigger.  Not sure if the carb I have is not stock, or if I got the wrong float.  Can't find any identifying marks on the carb other than Keihin and a "20" on the top screw cap.  But none of myinternet searching has helped me locate the correct float.

Looked at your pictures......seems your missing the intake rubber between the car and head too.

Was able to determine it's from a CB175 twin (I'm pretty sure, based on pics and measurements). New float on the way.
I have had the bike running fine with this carb, without the intake piece.  Although I don't think it's a rubber boot like on my 550.  This carb isn't a spigot mount.
It was bolted right up onto the head when I got it, but looking at the parts diagram, it looks like there's a metal intake piece.  What are the complications of running it with the carb bolted right to the head?

It may vibrate more than the factory recommends,or get hot..,something like that  ::).

What I believe it was.....is a metal piece with rubber over it.

All the XL, CL etc had them. Just find one with the right bend and mounting angle.

It acts as a vibration and heat insulator. Also adds a bit of length to the intake tract.
