Race bodywork
« on: June 25, 2013, 08:12:29 AM »
Sorry guys not CB related but it is for a pukka racebike project!

Anyone recommend a UK supplier of quality race bodywork? Finish and fit is much more important than cost.

It is for a Yamaha OW01 (FZR750R-R).

Thanks.

Do you have the original bodywork that can be used to make new moulds?  Or are you looking for new race ready bodywork? How authentic do you need it to be?  Are you going for Suzuka 8-hours replica or WSBK replica?  While the OW01 is highly sought after, there really weren't that many made and you might have few options.

If it was me I'd try to find out who owns some of the WSBK, BSB and AMA OW01s today and find out who they might know with the original moulds used in period.  Sounds like Peter Day is the leading specialist in the UK.

If you have bodywork already and just need new race glass to save the original plastic bodywork then you could try Ragged Edge Racing or Carbon Fibre Works.  Both can make new bodywork using your originals as patterns.

I had Mendez bodywork on the RS Simon, thought it was a bit heavy though, still got the seat if you know anyone that might want it. Also have a 88/89 RS fairing new with screen going spare, find me a buyer and I'll go halves. ;)

Yep,
Which is why I am keen to keep the mold as these are rare.

What are you thinking Sam?

Sam,
What does the fairing and screen you have look like?
Might be an option for me for a spare for the Manx depending on the look?
