« on: June 27, 2013, 03:30:23 pm »
I am just about ready to paint the bodywork on my 74 cb750. I am going to paint it sunrise flake orange. Where can I buy this 3-stage paint? I can not find it anywhere for sale. Thanks in advance

Found this:

My bike is same color. Original paint still "okay", but a dent in the tank needs fixing and i'd love to keep the color.

You will want to buy extra as it is a method you will want to and need to practice a bit to work out the techniques. Candy will be difficult part as it requires proper overlap and consistent coverage to get an even color that doesn't have stripes visible.

If you're not an experienced paint guy, that finish is pretty tricky to get just right. It's not even because it was a fancy paint job.. part of the trick is reproducing some of the ways that honda was lazy. Time between stages, light coats.. that sort of thing. If you have a lot of money to buy the right paints, and a lot of time to experiment on scraps, you'll probably do okay..
But when you break down that learning curve in man-hours, you'd have made enough , even at a minimum wage job to just pay this guy to do it right>  http://marblesmotors.com/partsforsalePaint.htm

notice, he sells repro paint, but he wont sell the candy colors because no one ever gets it right.

You could try the above. I bought paint (Flake Matador Red) for my CB350F from them a while back and its a close, but not perfect,  match to the original.
