Guys, I went to view the CB400 yesterday. Bike was clean enough n I really like it. But when the owner starts her she started in the first go but white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. I asked the owner about the smoke and he said that she was parked for few days If I will drive it for long the smoke will be gone.

But I think the rings are gone and bike was burning oil. There was no black oil resedue out on the exhaust. It was clear n dry. I also tried the kick start and she started perfectly in first attempt.

What you guys think is the issue with the smoke. Smoke was white. Need help here.
Thanks

was the air outside cold? could be condensation?

blue smoke normally means oil? black-over fueling?

My bike will smoke like the dickens if I leave it over winter to absorb moisture into the oil.  After it burns it off it's fine...you say he had it parked for a while, a few days shouldn't cause that kind of condensation.

Personally, the smoke being white makes it kind of a non-issue for me,  if it was blue/black I might have some reservations, but beat down a couple hundred (or try) and buy it is my opinion.

Mine burns white smoke from time to time.  Moisture in the pipes or water absorbed into older gas can cause that too.

My Goldwing does that if it spends too much time on the side stand.
