cb550f and cb550k air box interchange?
« on: July 12, 2013, 06:48:24 AM »
I'm having issues with google and can't find an answer to this

I have a cb550k and need an air box. I have most of the cb550K air box parts and found a pretty good deal on a cb550f air box assy that has all the remaining parts i need.

will they interchange?

Thanks for the help guys!!
i'd rather be sailing

They should. The frames are basically the same (any differences don't include the main triangle), and while the carb numbers are different, the externals are the same, including I believe the manifolds. So the boxes should interchange.

I know my F filter box is a bit different than the K box as in it has a lower bolt that is missing on the other. If you get the filter box and the plenum with it, that should work.

The F and K air box with rubbers to carb WILL NOT interchange as they have different carbs at different spacings---The air filter box however should fit

Bryan it depends on the year. 75 & 76 its the same part number (17310-323-010B) according to Honda microfiche. I find it odd its that close because of the two bolt flange instead of just one but the carbs have the same spacing, same carb bodies. In 77 the K models changed to the PD carbs and no it won't interchange.
