'75 CB750 Brake light On But Not Flashing
« on: July 18, 2013, 05:21:13 PM »
Good Evening!

I'm stumped... The brake light on my bike ('75 CB750) is on (solid) but will not flash when I use either the front hand brake or the bottom foot pedal. I have checked all the wiring to it and it seems fine and I've put in a new bulb. I've also tried adjusting the rear brake switch up and down, but that doesn't do anything either. The blinkers are working fine.

Anyone encountered this before and have any tips to offer?

Thanks so much!

Usually when the light stays on, one of the two switches has stuck.

Disconnect the rear at the bullet connector and see if the light goes out.

If not.....reconnect.

Then disconnect the front switch. I believe on the 75 it's still on the lower triple tree pressure switch.

Disconnecting 1 of the two should make it go out.

Disconnecting both should definitely make it go out.

If it doesn't extinguish with both switches disconnected...you have it wired wrong

Having this same problem with my 73. Kghost, mine goes out when I disconnect at the rear bullet connector but stays lit when I disconnect at the front switch. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for revisiting an older thread.

The rear brake switch is activating it, that's why the front doesn't change it. Take a look at the spring and where it connects to the switch. Is the plunger pulled out already? That will keep the switch on

Thanks bjbuchanan you got it. I adjusted it at the rear brake spring but apparently I didn't go far enough. A couple of more turns on the adjusting nut and a little more travel in the lever and it works like a charm. Sheesh, easy fix.  ::)
