Welding the tail hoop frame fillers, mud guard an battery / wiring base :)

Yes the the above!

Put on the cycle x 10mm offset sprocket today. Lining up front and rear to start making spacers. Once that's done, the frame gets painted, new wiring harness made (killing me btw) and almost on the road ;)

The CB650 swing arm gave me a little more room for the 4.5inch rear wheel.

Piston rings replaced, cylinders honed, new gaskets on, the reassembly begins.

Now I need to pull apart my cb650 to get the cam for the 550.

Man, those pistons were crazy hard to align and get in the cylinders. Now it's done I'm hearing of all the different ways to do it easily. Ha! At least they're done now.

I am currently painting the wheels gloss black. I know most people probably couldn't afford the spray booth I have, so instead of an old cardboard shoe box, you may have to use something else.

The wheels are actually turning out really nice though, a lot nicer than I expected.

Cb550 cam on the left
Cb650 cam on the right

I pulled the 650 cam out and it looks identical! I got a bit scared, thought someone had already switched the 650 or a 550 cam.

Got the digital readers out, the 550 lobes measured: 34.5mm roughly. The 650 was 35.5mm roughly.

In it goes :)

The cam is in. The rocker cover is currently being ground down to stop the lobes hitting. That's not fun at all!
