stock seat pan
« on: July 28, 2013, 07:15:45 pm »
I was wondering if this "queen/king" style seat(correct me if my terminology is wrong) is the same as a stock seat pan for the 750 but just different foam?

NO, I don't think so.   Most CB750 seat pans were pretty flat on bottom and hinged either on the left or right depending on the year. That pan mounts with the 2 ears with holes to the rear frame rail.
It looks like 79 or newer CB750/CB900c seat.

What year pan are you shooting for. Some of the earlier K ones also had a hinged plastic cover area to keep the owners manual. That being said many of the King/Queen seats were put on a stock seat pan back in the day.

I'm looking for a '72 for a 750. I guess now would be a good time to ask if anyone out there has one? :D

That looks like a stock DOHC 79-82 K seat. I just got a used 75 seat on eBay for $85. And you can get New Old Stock versions for just over double that. Or aftermarket version for a little less. That seems like a lot but a new cover alone would cost around $50, so it's all relative, in my o-pin-yon.
What am I doing and why am I doing it? Those are excellent questions.

I do I believe. It has the plunger latch instead
Of the earlier hook latch. I think I still have the plunger.  I have a whole seat actually. I don't want much for it. Shoot me a message!

Are you just looking for a pan then making your own custom seat. If so 72-76 should fit. There were slight differences in the shape and seat cover pattern over those years.
