Anyone Try a national Cycles Fairing on SOHC?
« on: August 09, 2006, 01:17:40 PM »
Hey All,

I was thinking about putting on a small National Cycle Flyscreen LS on my K6.  Anyone have any feeling why this would not mount on pretty easily?  The pic on their site shows it mounted on a Nighthawk, but their fitment does not show it for older models.  It will fit a 7 - 8" Headlight diameter.

Any input would be, as always, greatly appreciated.

they look pretty nice.

i'd like one.  or maybe a half rickman.  the guy i originally went in on this bike is staunchly against any fairng what so ever.  in fact, last night, he threatened to sneak into my garage and weld a full cop fairing onto the front of my bike if he ever saw me with any type of screen.

You can make anything fit. And it comes with hardware. Take a chance!

As for the anti widscreen lobby, 80 mph is a little more forgiving with a shield. Two cents. Need change?

how much could that tongue shaped piece of plastic deflect the wind?  anyone have one have used one?  I am also in the market for a wind deflector tht doesnt look like crap, but how small can you go before you are no longer deflecting enough wind to justify the screen?
if you go for it let us know

i'm used to tucking in quite a bit.  it's gotta create a larger pocket than my speedo and tach do.

funny side note, while typing this my MP3 player started playing "blowin' in the wind"

Theoretically anything moderately aerodynamic hung on the front of the bike, no matter how small (but bigger than the speedo/tach), will improve airflow. A lot depends on the angle that the screen or what-have-you is placed to the airstream. Remember those dinky little flat pieces of perspex they used to put on the old race bikes (like the Manx Norton) before the advent of dustbin fairings? They used to be able to lap the TT course at close to 100mph with that minimal amount of aerdynamics.

I have one of those on my 2000 Honda Magna.  The ones I have seen mount to the fork tubes.  If you call their support # they are pretty helpful and could answer questions about mounting and available hardware.  It does an OK job keeping the direct wind blast off your chest and will keep most of the bugs off you too.

Good luck.

Thanks Guys,

I think I will take a chance on it.  If you want something a bit bigger, they have the F-16 types as well.  They look pretty cool - if you like fairings that is!

As always, this forum ROCKS!!!!!

that one looks pretty good too, theres a dude on here with a 350F that fitted a little one from  a buel blast on his and it looks really good, I kinda want one just to clean up that gap I have between my headlight and my gauges, and if it takes a little of the wind off my chest and looks cool then thats a bonus!
