Hi all. Afraid I won't have pics until monday of the build. I bought a 1975 CB750K5 back in the summer of 2012 and once I moved after college graduation, started the disassembly early this spring. The bike I have since dubbed 'Madeline', had been sitting in a barn for almost 10 years and needed fresh everything.
Right now I am done processing the engine components, and am almost done assembling the lower end of the crankcase. Engine is to remain stock and to retain its points ignition system for authenticity reasons, and personal ones.
The overall plan for Madeline is a blacked out engine (already painted), yellow gas tank and coverings, and a black/yellow hammertone colored frame, a homage to one of my favorite color schemes and branding, the Mopar Super Bee.
As of yet I have set a schedule for completion for the spring of 2014, with engine rebuild lasting until early fall, frame to be sent out and powdercoated soon, and the harness/electrical bits for over the winter (shop is heated and it is sooo tedious), controls and misc. for finishing up in the spring.
I'll be back on soon to post pictures. Surprisingly it took me several months of working on before I got really excited about the build. Probably also had something to do with my shop mate's CB360 firing up this spring, one bike that I swear is louder than a Harley with drag pipes....
But as any project goes, funds are as of yet limiting me, but I try to keep myself busy in the meantime with the tedious processing and building tasks that allow me the time to work and build capital for parts. So far I'm keeping up with my schedule, but hey, 'Man plans, God laughs'.
Cheers
