Absolutely, if FattMatt gets it to me I can take it into any of the following states from CA> Arizona, New Mexico, Texas or Colorado...lets move that little monster.  8)

Are your dates set yet? Farmer Justin would most likely be your contact, he has ridden W Texas for us in the past.

Looking at leaving CA on 3/29 plan to be in AZ on 3/31 so will be rolling out of there and onward in very early April.  I was not planning on riding in Texas--just wanted to drop in for a quick photo opportunity perhaps in south western TX (after I leave AZ -I am riding on the southern most edge of AZ and taking the northern part for my return leg home -and enter NM) or while I am in NM (closer to Sante Fe)which would put me further north west in TX.
I haven't really mapped out the NM route, only the CA>AZ one
But if I need to meet up with someone in TX or other border states I will certainly do it.  My plans are flexible-- I am riding solo and even though I map things out I just generally go where the mood takes me (using my mapped out stuff as a rough plan).
I see we have 6 people signed up for TX so perhaps one of those will work out with my time frame?

I havent reached out to Farmer yet, maybe he could meet you in NM? I don't recall having a rider in NM the last couple years?
I can suggest some good roads in NM if you's like, I've biked it and know it fairly well. The southern Rockies extend down into NM and it is quite beautiful.

Hi Steve: I would love to hear some of your suggestions for rides in NM.  I know a few places I want to stop at like Silver City, Truth or Consequences (I love that name for a town), Gila Cliff Dwellings.  So I was thinking 152>35>15.  Riding 25 also toward Santa Fe.  Just a bunch of haphazard rides trying to link them to the northern part of NM.  I would be happy to meet up with someone in NM
Seems Matt will be riding out to me and ride with me for the first day to Salvation Mtn/Salton Sea.

Oh and Matt about time you posted some pictures of Pimpzilla.  I can't wait to get some six shooters on him and have his picture taken in a Tombstone saloon.

+1 on 152, good suggestion, Greg, and on her route to Truth.  Then head north on 25 to make some time to Santa Fe, worth a stopover.  Great history, architecture, art and food. From there, head north on 84 then west on 64, back towards AZ.

The plan is to take Kafka down there :) - yeah, i know, too optimistic. Would not drive car, thats just wrong.

Today was great weather but I was working on a wind tunnel with my oldest - HS project.

Tomorrow we expect almost 60, I hope i will make it to Skyline drive.

Well all it seems that Pimpzilla will be leaving Matt's sweatshop on 3/28 or 3/29 and traveling through CA to arrive in southern AZ on the 30th then going on with me through AZ until about 4/1 when we should be in NM (Silver City area).  Going north through NM until we hit Santa Fe.  Then around the April 3rd leaving Santa Fe area to go off to the 4 corners monument on the 3rd and 4th.
So if I am to pass off the little monster let me know where and to whom?  Otherwise he will continue with me back to CA.
If it is a pick up in Texas, NM or CO let me know so i can figure that into my rough outline of plans.   ;D

Looks like we'll be probably be leaving on Fri. the 28th. I'm trying to recruit a couple friends to ride south with us (me and DaSchwartz, a.k.a. Kenny) for a while, if any other Bay Area folks are interested, let me know. Also, if anyone is interested in a Bay Area Get ToGether the previous weekend or some other time to give the lil' fella a proper send off, I'm down.
So much to do, so little time.

If you come south through San Diego I can meet you and ride a couple of hundred miles, with you. I can take you on a nice route through the mountains and desert east of SD that will avoid the freeways. Let me know route plans.

I would like the little guy to continue east from NM.  I plan to organize a Hill Country camp/ride weekend in mid to late April.

Steve then we should coordinate so I can get Pimpzilla to you.  Main places in NM I will be going through are Silver City, Truth or Consequences, I-25N to ghost towns in Madrid and Cerrillo...then I was thinking of going East into Texas (just to say that I have been) then back to NM Santa Fe and west to Four Corners Monument back into AZ.
Would any of that work for you as a place to get to or go through for a handoff?

I am coming down from Niland CA (I want to visit Salvation Mountain and Matt wants to skateboard there  :o) then going to Felicity CA (where Pimpzilla and I want to be the center of the world  ;)) into AZ via I-8.  I was not planning on going directly into San Diego eastward.  Can we meet up somewhere in those plans?

Lisa, the route you're taking would require a lot of freeway slabbing for me back and forth on I-8, not my cup of tea on the 550 so I guess I'll pass for this year and try again in 2015. From the looks of Felicity on Google Earth, you will indeed be the center of all living things when you visit. Good luck with your trip.

If you do hit the Texas border at some point, that may be a place for you to meet/handoff to Justin Farmer.
I'll touch base with him to see if he is in for this year. Thanks.

Greg your input is just as important!  I'm going to ride with you in Idaho one of these days--just wait and see  ;)

OK, something to look forward to. ;)

If you are going to Silver City, it could be possible to work into your ride US191 in eastern Arizona between Springerville and Morenci.  This is an excellent motorcycle road that I'll feature in the interesting road thread when I get time to put it together.  It is almost 120 miles of amazing winding road and mountain vistas.  It is a very lonesome road, though.

Trying not to.  Want to get to Tombstone and Gleeson though so chose I-8 with winding on and off of it once I get around Gila Bend.  Coming back into Northern AZ from 4 corners monument planning to stay off of major slabs as well (grand canyon and then some of the lesser congested roads is my plan).
Does anyone know nice roads to get back to CA without riding 40 or 10 for too long?

I looked at that road and read it was a great motorcycling road.  My only concern is that it takes me north when I want to be south.  May just ride it north then over to NM and go South/east to Silver City- then east toward Truth or Consequences.  Seems I have some time to spare if I do that.  Planning gets crazy making because you can't do everything you want in one visit to any particular state...ha ha
