So with that said the 17/48 combo would bring my K4 closer to the performance of a K0?

Yes. The engine will still be detuned, but it'll have more "pep".

Ok what else would i need to do to my K4 to bring it closer to a K0? Im already buidling a 4 into 4 baffled straight pipe set up to replace the hacked off exhaust im seriously considering regearing it to the 17/48 set up once i get comfortable riding the bike.

One thing: add some spark advance to the advancer by moving the stops outward. The K0 had 40 degrees advance angle, the K1 had 34 degrees, and the K2-later only had 26 degrees. The K2-later also ran on regular gas: you'll have to run premium on the new advance setup. You might also have to up the main jet size by 5 or 10: keep an eye on the plugs.

Wish I could think of what the advance is on the 78.
