Solenoids differ between CB750K2 -K4 and CB750K6?
« on: August 13, 2006, 02:00:07 PM »
I had to replace the solenoid on my CB750K2 and for a quick fix took the one of my CB750K4 (which worked very well and fixed the problem). I then got another solnoid off a CB750K6 to replace the K4 one and found it had changed! The K6 has the male/female connectors (for the yellow/red wire and black wire) the opposite way to the K2 -K4 solenoids. Anyone know why this is??! Very strange.....

cheers

Yep, the early ones you ground the wire at the switch to make the solenoid work; the later ones are grounded via the loom and powered by the switch when the headlamp is disconnected.

Thanks Bryan that was just what I was looking for. Does this mean I cant use the K6 solenoid on my K4 or K2 if I attach a male/female connector?

Cheers

You can use either on every bike just by altering the connections as the internal coils are insulated from the rest
