As the title states, I am looking into getting my wife a motorcycle. She would need an automatic for starters.
Any thoughts on the cm400 Hondamatic?
What issues should I look for?
She definitely does not need a 750.
thanks
Either the CB400A Hawk or the CM400A are really good choices. Unless you're willing to put a lot of time and money into it, get the cleanest, lowest mileage one you can afford/find. Look for worn chain/sprockets, damaged control levers or cables, smooth, quiet engine operation. Ride it in both gear ranges and see how it behaves. Unless the tires are almost new and virtually unworn, do your wife a favor and replace them immediately. I got my wife a used '78 Hawkomatic in 1980, and she rode it for about 5 years. Trouble free, good fuel mileage, and easy to maintain.
