Early 750 seat/ ducktail???
« on: September 22, 2013, 08:22:21 pm »
I had one ducktail seat recently and this one I got today makes me think I have another... It was recovered but the back end was compressed down due to a poor recover... I have a K1 seat for the newly acquired K1 today so I took the recover off this seat... It's hard to see with the pics but the foam looks to be pink, almost faded red foam.... The back end is higher and not the same as my other early 750 seats... The seat is damp so I will let it air dry for now... But from what I can tell it looks to be a ducktail seat....

Is this correct?

I saw that one... The rear hump on mine has been smushed for years.. Once I removed it started to come up... It has the seams in the foam as that one too... Maybe it isn't though.. I will let it dry out but I could be jumping to conclusions to early...

Did all the K0s have the ducktail seat?  I'm looking at a K0 tomorrow to buy but it has a chintzy add on seat and the ducktail looks sooo much better.

I saw parts of a ducktail that had what appeared to be a molded rubber piece that looked like it went under the ducktail part of the cover.. Is that what the factory used ?

The ducktail that I used to have had a separate piece for the "tail"  If I remember correctly it was black and denser/more firm than the rest of the foam.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Can you post a pic of the bottom?  I might be interested in it if it has the right base.

Greggo I am thinking it's not... The foam is glued on the back and just a little higher but not the correct over height... I will send you a pic via text....
