My coworker's K1200LT is sitting right outside my window. It has all of the aforementioned bells & whistles plus power center stand, reverse, 10-disc changer, and some other stuff I can't remember. $25,000!  :o

That BMW (almost called it a Beemer and then I remembered that Terry of Aus. doesn't like
that term.) is a pretty awesome bike but, then again, so's the price and that's why I'll just look
         and drool.

the guy i know got one used for just under 10 i think.  about 9k on the odometer. does have revers, but no 10 disk or power center stand.  pretty amazing to watch a guy about my size put it up though.

I dig the Guzzi Centauro.  I don't know why.  Most people think they're fugly.

I like my 400, but my next bike needs to have some torque...I'm thinking big bore sporty European twin...Guzzi, Ducati, Aprilia, or BMW.

The BMW's aren't priced any worse than the rest of the new bikes.  LT's are right in there with Gold Wings and Electra Glides.  RT's are a little less, although still more than a Honda ST1300, but way more machine.  The worst part is a lack of dealers.  BMW got on the boutique bandwagon with Harley and many dealers closed up.  I'm lucky to have a dealer only 50 miles away.

Of course he might as well be 1000 miles away when you look at my present bike buying fund :P

It's a 'mans' bike, apparently, with reliability 'quirks'. And as always, beauty is in the eyes of the man with the cash to buy one. I like 'em too, but I cannot see myself ever owning one, money or not.

Most people ride a bike of sometype, but have a dream bike they want. I've had my dream bike for a couple of years. There is not a bike anywhere I would rather have than the Kawasaki ZRX 1200R...  Unfortunatley you can no longer buy a new one in the U.S. The old bikes are a hoot and a different ride. A leasure ride. Much like a cruiser.  It's interesting that most people think this 2001 ZRX is an 80's bike.

Jeff, I've been looking at this '01 Consumer News re the W650. If you're really interested, PM me and I'll send a copy of the article. Basically, they (and I) just think it's a better bike all 'round.  Beter sound, feel, dare I say it about a Japanese bike- it seems to have character.

As far as new bikes go... I'm a humbler person after this weekend.  I've been reminded that it's better to know the tool you have before you worry about buying new tools;
A friend rode out from San Francisco- took the long way; about 6K miles one way.  We missed Deals Gap because it rained too hard, so on his way out of town, I took him up 151 to the BRP.  Let's call it the Mouses Tail.  He was on his HD soft tail, and I decided to take my 500 single, but I had him go first so he could take his time.  Switchbacks, S's, hairpins all the way up in mostly shade because the trees are so thick.  Road very damp in places, pieces of rotted wood here and there, the rain had washed down some pebbles/gravel.
After the first turn he disappeared.  I thought, "OK. Thick foliage, the road cuts into the hills..." and I speed up. Nothing. I start pouring it on and after a while I get to where I can see his tail light disappearing around the turns up ahead.  I get up closer, partly because I realize if he can do it, I ought to be able to keep up with this glorified tractor for cryin out loud.  When he's finally in plain sight I realize he's not even breaking a sweat.  He doesn't even think he's riding fast!
I've got maybe 2 bikes I can ride to thier potential.  I still have a LOT to learn.  Maybe I'll think about a new bike when I'm good enugh.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

People think it's a 80's bike Because it looks like a 80's bike.
I would think that as well, as I did when I saw it.
Not that it's a bad thing - just looks straight outta the 80's....

My brother has a ZRX - they're kick ass bikes for sure. I've only sat on one, but couldn't believe how comfy they are.

I've been thinking about new bikes and what I'd buy. My first immediate thought was Speed Triple, and I do love them. But here's an alternative take:

Suzuki DRZ-400SM

or

KTM 625 SMC

my mom has the s50.  it is a sweet ride.  much quicker than my dad's shadow 750, which is why he's looking for a new bike.

I think people would be singing a different tune if you lost the fairing.  that could also be one of the tits folks are noticing.  I like to imagine the home wrecker w/o fairing and when i do it makes me happy.  didn't you say that was for the show anyhow.  well the shows over and personally i think it would win shows without the viper.
