Well after owning the 74 CB550 K0 for a month and a half now and having to do more work I initally intended to to get her back on the road for the season, I finally took her for a ride tonight.  Not that far, just about 25-30 miles.  She ran great and all the work and hours I put into her in the past month was well worth it.  When I got her I could get her started and soon realized that she was only running on two pistons.  After a carb overhaul, all pistons were firing great.  While the carbs were off I went ahead and relocated the ignition switch.  I didn't like it above the left headers, so I put it right below the right side cover.  Then i noticed that the PO had sheered off the bleeder valve on the front caliper, so I tried to get it out to no avail.  I finally got it out by welding about ten nuts to it and wrenching it out.  Took a while and I had to repaint it but it was worth it, works just fine now.  I got new front blinkers from an old guy in town that does work on old bikes for $6 each and put them, new forks and ears on the bike.  The old forks were so rusted on the uppers that they wouldn't come out of the trees without some serious techinical tapping.  Got all that on, polished her up for the time being and went for a ride and man it was great.  Tonight in the great state of South Carolina it was a cool 72 degrees and there were no cars on the back roads at all.  I think I only passed two cars the hour or so I was riding.  Plans to repaint her and engine gasket kit this winter, maybe a bit more.....depends on the cash flow that I have. Good riding - chris

Here she is as of now.  I have a good bit of cleaning and polishing to do, and I plan on repainting this winter, that is after I take her to the Wheels Throught Time Museam in Maggie Valley NC.  I also plan on taking her on the Blue Ridge Parkway this fall before I get her into the shop to do the painting.  Maybe take her to Pisgah NC for some camping as well this fall once all the mosquitoes are gone and it is a bit cooler.
