I threw out the old bearings before k could measure the distances
Anyone know if I need the washers they provided?

The instructions for my 22-1011 All Balls kit say + or - 1mm from 'stacked' height of old [lower] bearing assembly. That's the upper race + balls + lower race, of the lower bearing assembly. If you've thrown out just the balls, Ace hardware has them (they're 1/4"). You only need 3 (to measure).

If you're thrown out the entire assembly, you could just try the tapered bearings without shims and see how they turn out.

Here's their instruction sheet...
