1975 cb550, rest in peace
« on: October 16, 2013, 05:53:24 PM »
Just wanted to announce, after a summer of getting my bike running and sounding amazing, fixing oil leaks and frustrations, I finally had my dream bike. Everything was running perfectly.

Then I got cut off BADLY. I wasn't left any time to do anything other than go into the car.

Bike's destroyed, I'm destroyed, and I don't know if I'll ever have the nerve to get back on.

I've been in the hospital for a week. Broken all up and down right side, foot, thumb, femur in three, hip socket destroyed collar bone broken. No weight in right leg for several months.

I just hate I lost the perfect bike, for me, but I don't regret the experience.

Crashing sucks, for sure. Concentrate on healing and rehab. The desire to ride will return, it just takes a while.

Get well brother. Sorry to hear about the bike and you. YOU'RE alive though and in the grand scheme of things that's what's important.

Heal first, and if the riding fever is still there, it will take back over and make the decision for you. If not, you could always get a little vintage sports car to absorb your time and money.

Good luck on your recovery

Bell drifter.  Handled quite well, was removed easily by paramedics, Stayed on the whole time. It's just a half helmet, but the design is sturdy enough that I had not a scratch above my neck.

Sorry to hear that, get well soon.  Being intimidated after crash is normal, I just skid down the road in 80 kmh and it took me several years to feel safe again.

One thing at a time, get well first  :)

Been there myself, tank slapper on the highway. Got another bike after that winter, but only put a few hundred miles on it over the next couple years. Now I have the itch, started riding more this year, and restoring it.
