What a drag. - or - OK!!! NOW I'M AWAKE!!!
« on: October 30, 2013, 11:31:40 am »
Man, nothing grabs my attention like getting deep into a corner and having a footpeg try to close up on my foot.
750s don't have a ton of cornering clearance, do they?
Centerstand drags on the left, footpeg on the right...

Now I'm totally scared of corners! Almost over shot one because I thought my foot was gonna drag again. Totally wussed out.  :-[

Why be scared..?  Its not uncommon to wear out boots and pegs riding 750/4's, actually, if you aren't scraping the pegs you are just not riding it properly.. ;D The pegs on the 750 scrape easily and fold, no problems at all,  get rid of the center stand though, it doesn't fold and could throw you down the road. Keep the center stand in the shop and just slide  it in for servicing.. ;)

I used to have a cb77 super hawk with a dust bin on it and it rode on the bottom both sides it made corners "interesting" I finally scared my self enough to fix it and then if you got it over far enough to scrape you'd dropped it, wish I still had that bike

Yeah, scraping the center stand SUCKS.
Nothing like having the rear wheel skip out a few inches.
I plan to pull my CS soon...

I've never dragged a foot peg before this. Other bikes I've ridden had more clearance.
WEIRD sensation having the peg try to fold up on my foot.

That is why they fold though, or it would be the same scenario as the rigid center stand.

I agree, at first it feels a bit weird but really its nothing to worry about, your not going to upset 500 pounds of bike by scraping the pegs.... ;D ;)

Did it on a buell blast that I cobbled back together, hit the roundabout at about 55mph dragged a the peg and didnt lift my foot, the ass end picked up and started the shimmy, got it back upright and pulled over to check my pants.  ;D

So that's why the pegs were all cut and narrowed on my 70 when I got it. L0L. I still have them.
